New here/Is there really no hope in being hired? - Sarah

Posted: Jan 20th, 2020 - 12:52 am

Hi everyone. So I'm currently employed as an IC (a little over 2 years) but unfortunately work has been so slow that my paycheck is almost nonexistent. I wanted to see about finding work elsewhere, come to realize I can't find anyone hiring (that at least doesnt look scammy).

I stumbled upon this forum and after browsing multiple threads, my concern was confirmed (which I already knew somewhat because I have 2 transcribers in my family who gave me a heads up this is a dying breed).

Even so, I was still hopeful as this job has been a godsend for me - I can stay home with my small children and supplement our income so we arent reliant on just my husband.

But it seems like I'm lucky to even have the job I have (which I acquired through connections without experience). I really need to make more money from home and unfortunately it doesnt seem as though being an MT will be sufficient enough. Which is sad because I enjoy the job and the flexibility.

If anyone has any recommendations or advice I'm open to them.
