getting hired - anon Posted: Jan 21st, 2020 - 2:30 pm In Reply to: New here/Is there really no hope in being hired? - Sarah
Not sure why you have all the dislikes? Anyway, you have pretty limited experience compared to so many that are out there with 25+ years. It is not hopeless, but it will be hard to complete for the few good jobs out there.
I had some luck in the past in between jobs sending my resume to the office manager of multiple smaller groups in my area. Many have a company or IC in place, but there are many times they are looking for someone who can handle some overflow work.
An oncology group where I know the manager says they occasionally bring on people. The office I currently work for does a lot of seasonal work (allergists) and they usually have extra work in the spring and will send some overflow out. I would think sports medicine in the spring and fall school seasons would be similar. That may be your best bet, because most of the transcription companies either want many more years of experience than you have or pay so little and have so little work it is not worth dealing with them.
