will add, I've had a couple of surprises - job profile Posted: Jan 31st, 2020 - 8:59 am In Reply to: Put a resume up on indeed and make a - job profile
I got hired with an MT Company through indeed but it was that EditScript VDI stuff so didn't stay with it. And have pretty much decided if that is all there is, I'll do something else.
Found the job I'm at now there - straight typing .08 a line easy stuff some docs are harder but outsourced work isn't going to be the best, the MTs at the hospital keep what they like.
I had a recruiter for another MT company message me when I was getting hired and I had to decide who to work for. I like working for small companies and I didn't apply for the second job offer.
The employer might request you take some tests through Indeed. Once you take them, typing, medical terminology, etc., you then just click share results of your tests with that employer and any employer in the future who is interested.
Some send a behavioral test. I usually don't waste my time filling those out. Too much HR, too much corporate. But that's me. Ask me about my work experience, education, type of reports I like to type, test me.
Oh, that first company didn't even test me, wow. Come to think of it my current job didn't either. I've been doing this a while and I had a telephone interview.
I was going to, before the apocalypse, put together a good, cheap, MT training package and sell it but given what I was seeing, I didn't think it would be honest. I think it's kind of leveled out, now. There is still decent work and depending on your location there might be an excess.
But to spend thousands on training wouldn't be smart in this environment.
I've come full circle and am thinking about putting up a website and doing it.
I also think if people wouldn't work for the companies that have hurt MT, the individual MTs would fare better. I don't think the hospital's savings the 2 companies that the VDI work flows through before it gets to the MT (who does the work) is all that great and it's certainly something that an MT would like to make and even if it was washing through one contractor before the Individual MT.
But cleaning up after their VR isn't going to do anything but keep MTs wandering and put the money in other people's pockets.
I saw where BlueDot with AI listening to internet posts - social media, articles, and info from airline ticketing predicted the outbreak in China weeks if not months before it occurred because their AI can differentiate (this is kind of a quote) anthrax the disease from Anthrax the band in content. Must be a HUGE program with miles and miles of code. I don't think medical VR will ever get that discerning or consistently capable to not depend on editors for some dictators. Because that was based on written words and not spoken.
