where when I try to log in I will get a message "waiting for background services" One of the companies I work for has provided us (thankfully) a document detailing some common VDI issues and how to fix them ourselves. So now it only takes me a very short time to fix that issue when it comes up and I do not have to wait on Nuance IT department anymore for that particular issue. Also, another issue I have (and I know others often do as well) is sometimes when I stop my foot pedal or rewind etc the sound quality will change and I'll hear almost a static type background. It just basically fixes itself as I continue along. It can be annoying obviously but that's about it with my experience with VDI issues.
