AU HIPAA - need to know

When you subcontract for an Australian company, how is HIPAA compliance handled? Is there HIPAA in Oz?  What is the MT's liability if the company uses an FTP site or other generic platform for download/upload?  I think I know the answer but it's 2 am and I can't remember it. TIA.
