Best of luck to you.
I'd like to take this opportunity to let those who are even thinking about going into this business, read these notes here and pay attention!
Also using this opportunity to those who are thinking they'll stay because it will get better---it won't.
To those older folks, I left MT completely 6 years ago at the age of 57 and got a non-MT job. Please don't let your age stop you! I had a few non-MT job offers and took one of them.
I have since retired, but it was NOT easy pounding the pavement. Please don't automatically assume you won't get a job because of your age! Some places like hiring older folks for a few reasons: One is the work ethic in general. I am not cutting down the younger generation, but in general, older folks have a better work ethic. Another reason, a lot of us "almost retired" people aren't looking for the moon! We're just looking for something to coast us along until we can collect SS. We don't have the same expenses as the younger ones. Hopefully, by the age of late 50s, the mortgage is paid, you are not supporting kids, and aren't interested in expensive electronic gadgets.
So, go for it!
