I was laid off last month. I had 4.something hours of PTO left that Tuesday morning. I had a feeling a layoff was coming because the PTO I used for Sunday and Monday was approved on those days when I did my OOW time. Usually all PTO (approved and unapproved for OOW) was approved by my OM the day payroll was to be approved. Anyways, I put in for the 4.XX PTO that Tuesday morning before the layoff call. It wasn't approved so I wasn't sure if I would be paid for it or not. On my last check, it was paid and showed as 'PTO balance' or something like that, separate from the PTO that was approved. I can only assume it was paid because I had submitted it while still employed since my state (TN) doesn't require employers to pay PTO when laid off...some states do but not TN.
