You CAN write this off on your taxes at the end of the year if your an IC. (This is a loss!) This is all part of your work. Set an hourly wage, and keep track of how many days you work. All of the non-paid incurrences are deductible....the time you would spend to have VDI loaded, every phone call, every email you read and answer...all deductible. Check IRS. If you file through one of the tax sites online, they will ask. If not, go through IRS booklets.
