situation. Those of us who have done this work for 30+ years - back when you could make good money - are left in the dust now. We did not create the low wages. They were thrust on us gradually and only got bad in the past 5-10 yrs or so I would say. Yes people can beat me up for not changing careers 10 years ago! However at that time I had 2 kids in college and was still making enough to justify staying with work I enjoyed doing.
What people who judge fail to realize is that people stay for all kinds of reasons. I would never judge someone for "settling" or whatever scornful term someone chooses to lay on us. We stayed because we stayed and our reasons are our own. That is water under the bridge and pointing fingers does no good. We've all been screwed by these companies.
Anyway, thank you for articulating better than I can how many of us feel.
