I am 66 now, and it really helps my hands. I think if you are a fast reader (rather than simply a fast typist), ASR will go well for you. I cannot believe these people doing 300-400 lph are getting anything but super easy accounts, which will ultimately go to India. I do teaching and research hospitals, and these are very difficult, so it all depends on what you get, not how fast you type.
