Drug and background test - SM

Just because you are working from home does not mean that drug/background tests are not necessary. Not all MTSOs do this, but there are several that do. You are handling extremely sensitive patient information, which may include social security numbers, date of birth, plus private medical records that are protected by HIPAA, so the company wants to ensure that they are not hiring criminals or individuals with substance abuse issues, which could have a negative impact on their performance as an MT as well as put patient privacy at risk. This is the healthcare field after all. It may be their client(s) who request the drug and background tests on anyone who will potentially work on their account. As far as your dismissed felony, I have no idea, but I would be honest and up front with them about it. If you know that it shows up on your record, don't try to withhold that information from them, because they are going find out about it anyway once they perform the background check and then you will be in the awkward position of having to explain it to them after they discover it. It's much better to tell them prior to doing the background check as it makes you look a lot more honest.
