In fact, in many states employers are required to pay this sort of downtime, especially if people are expected to keep checking in for work availability.
You've got entirely the WRONG slant on things, sister. And you, and others like you, are the very reason we will never unite to reverse the terrible situation we find ourselves in today. If you really cared about patients, you'd be doing things that would be stemming the tide of excellent talent that's leaving this field. THAT would be helping patients.
