Ladies, I was 49 years old when I decided to end my 30 year MT career and go back to school. I am now 10 months away from my internship and already in a new job doing followup for a cancer registry. I don't work weekends or holidays or odd shifts, I get a Christmas bonus and raises, money is deposited in my HSA by them every year. I get paid holidays separate from my sick time and personal time and vacation. They also contribute to a 401k. I work all day doing my followup job and then I go to school on line at night. Is it hard? YES. Is it worth it? YES. I have not regretted my choice, ever. I want to encourage all of you who are left in that abusive, wretched field to find something else! Talk to a college counsellor or visit NCRA-usa.org if you'd like to work in a registry.
