From someone who works for a large hospital corporation, no one in a large corporation is allowed to give references or respond to requests for references. All of these requests are to go through HR, to prevent the person for whom a personal reference is requested from saying, "."what a rotten, low down, lying, lazy, ignorant B***CH.. HR does not want to be sued over something one employee says about another. HR will usually just give hire date, termination date, salary range. Nothing else.
