your situation when you talked to the IRS, but where you reside, and in this case also work, is where you owe state income taxes, regardless of where your employer is based. When you get your W-2, you'll file your Federal income taxes and your state income taxes based on that W-2. In my state, my state income tax is a percentage of my Federal income tax. You might want to consult an accountant/CPA in your state to get the correct information before you go filing a state income tax return in the employer's state.
