If you are IC for a MTSO or directly with a facility, if you normally charge 0.14/line, and they say NO, we'll pay you 0.08/line, then that's your contractually agreed upon rate. You could try sending them an invoice for 0.14/line, but they might get a bit peeved at you. I don't think what you are wanting to do is feasible or advisable. If you have a small business CPA do your taxes, they will find every possible business expense and/or deduction to reduce the amount of income you will be paying taxes on. That's how to beat them at their game of low balling the line rate. Having a good CPA do your taxes is priceless. Mine told me to keep track of mileage I used to go to Staples to buy paper, printer ink, or anything office related. I even deduct a bit of postage I used to pay bills related to my office. He also told me that the phone is not deductible unless it is a separate line used only for business purposes. A portion of your home phone is not deductible. His fee ($250) is also a deduction and well worth it.
