Everybody who was a high producer on straight typing - is penalized when editing.

I would say that most people, when transitioning to editing, do maybe 25% more to 50% more (there are some who for some reason luck out and can do more, usually those who were only typing about 125 or less lines per hour--editing does speed them up so they can go almost twice as fast). But the more lines per hour you typed while actually typing, the less you will speed up when editing.

So do the math. If you were doing 200 to 250 lines per hour typing like I used to at 0.08, that would equal almost $20.00 per hour.

If you do, say, 250-300 while editing at 0.04, that would almost $12.00 per hour -- large pay cut. Make a mistake and get cut to .035 -- that's 10.50 per hour. And that's if you're consistently doing 300 per hour. 250 per hour would equal 8.75 per hour.

So they cut your wage below minimum wage if you get below 99% (easy to do) and then have the balls to complain that they had to give you make-up pay (because your pay fell below the minimum wage for your state) and may threaten to fire you. In the meantime, you've worked your butt off for minimum wage that week, if you had enough work.

Make-up pay never used to be an issue when they paid better and did NOT cut your pay for making a mistake.

What's going to happen if the minimum wage goes to $15.00 an hour? That would be 375 lines per hour at 0.04, and 300 per hour at 0.05.
