Dictaphone versus Escription for VR/SR - MTmom

Posted: Oct 28, 2010

I am curious as to your opinions on Dictaphone versus Escription platforms for speech rec.  Which one can you make the most money on?  Thanks in advance

I prefer Dictaphone. But here is the deal....... - see msg

I would have to say the actual voice recog engine, for accuracy, would be eScription. It really does nail the reports down with few changes. However, Dictaphone's "functions" are way better. The actual keyboard functions to make changes and/or corrections are way better in Dictaphone ExEditor 8.0. I overall prefer Dictaphone ExEditor over ALL VR software. A few more changes needed to the report, but the changes are done so much quicker with a just a few keystrokes. JMO.

Is Dictaphone slower than Escription? - MTmom

I have been told that Dictaphone speech is slower than Escription. Is this true? How many lines can you do an hour on Dictaphone ExEditor? Thanks again

400 lph. I am not sure the "system" is slower. - Probably depends on the MT

I just really prefer Dictaphone over eScription, but others may you tell you differently.

Escription Versus The Rest Of Us
Nov 18, 2009

There's obviously an apples and oranges difference between Escription and the rest of the VR editing softwares out there.  Those who are on Escription - bless your hearts - you are very fortunate.  But if you haven't done VR on another platform, please stop trying to tell the rest of us we are obviously doing something wrong if we can't easily double our lines with VR.  It just isn't happening for most of us.  I have worked in transcription for 30 years - ...

End Point Versus Endpoint And Hand Grip Versus Handgrip
Mar 13, 2012

Two words that come up often for questioning.  These are strictly used in an orthopedic setting.  Stedman's and Dorland's list end point and hand grip HOWEVER the office transcription manager,  girl is asking for me to correct this to endpoint and handgrip. She is only basing this on what an old medical transcription company she used to work for had her typing. I would rather base it on the  medical reference. The doctors are not even aware this has come up. She is ...

Dictaphone Platform For Vr

Anyone like dictaphone for VR, or prefer Escription?  What is the average lines per hour anyone makes with either platform?  I am relatively new with VR and need to know if it is really worth the 0.4 cpl?  I was told 400-600 lines an hour will probably be my average, closer to the 600 ...

Dictaphone Won't Rewind All The Way!
Sep 14, 2010

I usually work with mp3s, and now this Dictaphone is driving me crazy.  I have no manual. Why does it not rewind all the way?  When I want to review a part of the tape, I push rewind and it will only rewind a little and then beep at me! There is an 'erase' button.  Does that have anything to do with anything? This dictaphone is really old, I think.  Pitney Bowes 3170.   If anybody has any ideas I would be much obliged!! ...

I Hate Dictaphone
Jul 28, 2014

I hate working on Dictaphone for the simple reason that you cannot listen to "errors" found on FIESA.  You can only ask your TSM to listen to something. This is why I continue to refuse to sign off on FIESA!  I am not going to sign off on an error when my TSM is able to listen but not me.  That tells me that this software was purposefully set up so that the lowly MT can never refute an error.  If a TSM has the capability of listening to it, how hard could it be for the devel ...

Dictaphone Lines
Aug 20, 2014

Those of us who work on Dictaphone know we check our lines on iChart.  It's not a very good system since it doesn't allow you to match lines with a specific job, only allowing you to check your total lines in bulk or by the hour (which seems to be in EST, but not 100% sure). However, has anyone else ever gone into each file after you typed it, gotten the statistics, and checked it against what iChart says?  I've done this a few times when work was really slow and I had ...
