Nuance/Dictaphone/TT - ATT

Posted: Apr 22, 2011

Worked inhouse.  Service work is all a different world.

Huh? TransTech is not owned by Nuance - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
They use eScription and Powerscribe from Nuance, but they are not managed by them.

Get your facts straight first - then rage against the machine

[ In Reply To ..]
TransTech isn't Nuance, so you are, in fact BASHING a company and holding them accountable for your issues.

I'm not sure of your entire point but you CAN still make money doing VR. You have to learn it correctly and you have to table the ADD issues many MTs have (see? Me included as here I am).

The VR companies sell the same lines as ANY technology company sells. And then the reality is learned once the money is spent. It stinks. But it also is what it is.

I think you owe TransTech an apology :)

To ATT: Your posts never make sense... - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
TT and Nuance are two different companies. Your posts about TT and Nuance are always so confusing. Who do you work for? Obviously not TT because they are not owned or managed by Nuance.

Who do you work for? TT or Nuance? - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
If you work for Nuance, you seriously need to edit your TT posts below talking about their QA, moving back and forth, no work, etc.

See folks, this is why you have to take info on this board with a grain of salt. This person doesn't even know who they work for.

BTW, I work for Nuance, but I certainly don't want TT getting the blame for all of the negative things happening at Nuance.

sm--I think I once worked with you! - ATT

[ In Reply To ..]
I have worked in hospitals and you must have worked at home or in management. In-house we had meetings every month and all we were ever told was the programs and Dictaphone or Lanier. Services tell you nothing. Excuse me for not being as smart as you. That's why people visit this board who work for services becuase there is no communication. You could be a lot nicer and not so degrading.

Nuance/TT - anon

I don't know exactly what the OP means by "TransTech is Nuance," but I know they have some kind of relationship/connection.  A recent email read like this:

"...As you all might or might not know TransTech performs random quality audits on all MTs.  Additionally, Dictaphone, i.e., "Nuance" who we partner with on some accounts performs monthly audits reporting directly to the client.  "

OP, is this what you meant by TransTech is Nuance? --the partnership?

Can someone explain how Dictaphone, Nuance and TransTech are related?  Does anyone really know?

TransTech uses their software - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
That is the relationship.

Regarding the mention of audits done by Dictaphone, back before OSi was bought by Nuance, they did the same thing with us. Most of the time, these results were never passed onto us. I do not know what they are used for, but I'm thinking (don't quote me on this), that these Dictaphone audits are what the facilities use for quality info.

software - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Yes, they use their software. Even still, why would they feel the need to do audits for the client? Companies use all different kinds of software without being involved with the end client. I'm not trying to be a smarty-pants, but I'm truly interested in the connection.
That's all I know - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know if the facilities have Dictaphone/Nuance do the audits or what. I just know that it happened at OSi loonnnggg before we were bought out by Nuance, and I didn't think much of it then.

Hmmm....no - meme

[ In Reply To ..]
I work on a shared account. I work for Nuance, and TransTech is definitely working on the same account as their instructions have been added to our instructions. So...yeah...it's more than just sharing software.

Relationship between Nuance and other "partners" - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Here's the deal: Nuance sells transcription services as well as technology to hospitals. Those services were previously divvied out to specific transcription companies ("partners") who were subcontractors to Nuance on specific accounts. Nuance is responsible to see that TAT and quality are met on those accounts, so they audit to make sure all's well. OSi and Encompass were former "partners", both of whom were bought by Nuance last year. Focus Informatics was bought a couple years ago. Now those 3 transcription companies (all owned by Nuance) make up NTS (Nuance Transcription Services).

But some of their hospital accounts are still subcontracted to "partners", and TransTech is one of those subcontractors. TT is not owned by Nuance but is a subcontractor on specific accounts. Nuance does the billing, then pays TT.

Other partners, I believe, are TTS, Terra Nova, ITS, Alpha, A-Stat, and OptiScript. But I've heard there are fewer partners as NTS does most of the work themselves now. That's why some of these companies lose accounts--Nuance takes them over.

TransTech is NOT owned by Nuance. On some of their older accounts, they partnered - TTer

with Nuance and they also buy Dictaphone hardware and software to use for most of their clients. That's the only connection. Please don't start anything.

Dictaphone Platform For Vr
Jun 03, 2010

Anyone like dictaphone for VR, or prefer Escription?  What is the average lines per hour anyone makes with either platform?  I am relatively new with VR and need to know if it is really worth the 0.4 cpl?  I was told 400-600 lines an hour will probably be my average, closer to the 600 ...

Dictaphone Won't Rewind All The Way!
Sep 14, 2010

I usually work with mp3s, and now this Dictaphone is driving me crazy.  I have no manual. Why does it not rewind all the way?  When I want to review a part of the tape, I push rewind and it will only rewind a little and then beep at me! There is an 'erase' button.  Does that have anything to do with anything? This dictaphone is really old, I think.  Pitney Bowes 3170.   If anybody has any ideas I would be much obliged!! ...

Any MTs On Dictaphone Platform?
Aug 03, 2012

I am a newbie to the profession, and Nuance is my first employer.  I graduated from MTEC a year ago, and I've been working since February.  I'm looking for MTs who work on the same platform as I do because I am not even close to making enough money to pay my bills.   My TL told me that our team has people (no names were offered) who consistently do 20K+ lines per payperiod and presumably make all kinds of money.  If this is true, then I ...

Do I Need Dictaphone For Own Accounts?

I Hate Dictaphone
Jul 28, 2014

I hate working on Dictaphone for the simple reason that you cannot listen to "errors" found on FIESA.  You can only ask your TSM to listen to something. This is why I continue to refuse to sign off on FIESA!  I am not going to sign off on an error when my TSM is able to listen but not me.  That tells me that this software was purposefully set up so that the lowly MT can never refute an error.  If a TSM has the capability of listening to it, how hard could it be for the devel ...

Dictaphone Lines
Aug 20, 2014

Those of us who work on Dictaphone know we check our lines on iChart.  It's not a very good system since it doesn't allow you to match lines with a specific job, only allowing you to check your total lines in bulk or by the hour (which seems to be in EST, but not 100% sure). However, has anyone else ever gone into each file after you typed it, gotten the statistics, and checked it against what iChart says?  I've done this a few times when work was really slow and I had ...

Need Dictaphone Macros
Feb 12, 2015

I'm a former employee, now working as an IC, and had been so used to all the macros that were built into Microsoft Word when they installed Dictatphone/ExEditor.  Unfortunately, you can only access those while ExEditor is open, and I forgot to copy them out of there so I could use them later. Any chance I could get someone on here that is still working on ExEditor to copy their macros and paste them here?  Essentially you'd just need to be in ExEditor with Word open... then ...
