Why do MTSO advertise, but never call or if they do call, nothing. - Suzy Q

Posted: Feb 20, 2012

I am tired and frustrated from applying and sending out resumes only to be ignored.  It is like a game with them, I think.  MedGarde even has an interview which has absolutely nothing to do with your skills or qualifications.  In fact it seems like psychological testing to see if you are mentally competent or something like that.  I swear I feel like a mouse that is being tested and run through a maze to see how well you perform, but even mice will get the prize or food eventually.  We are just played around with, with false promises and stupid tests which are never evaluated or probably not even looked at.  This is just one big rat race and we are definitely not the winners -- not sure if we ever were!!!!

Just tired of looking and looking with no results.  Pure insanity I think.

I was wondering the same thing. I have applied for positions and never heard anything and then a week later they have an ad up again. You wonder if there really is a job opening.

My bet is, there IS a job-opening --- it's just not for - AMERICAN workers. (wink-wink!)

I'm pretty sure that by law, they can't "openly" discriminate against American workers.

They get around that by letting us read their ads, but never calling us back.

Most of the jobs get too many applications to be able to address every one they receive. They would have to employ someone to do nothing but that. Many times it's a skill set reflected on the resume that doesn't match what they are looking for.

My experience doesn't reflect what you have shared. I seem to hear back from each job I apply to, even if it's to tell me the position has been filled.

Review your resume. Make sure it's written to highlight your skills and what you can bring to the table (I know, I know, it's all apples.) You need to get YOUR resume read though so you might want to consult with someone to make sure it's as good as it can be.

MTSOs and applications - justme

From experience, I can tell you it is extremely difficult to answer over 900 applications or more at once and still keep up with day-to-day operations, some of the smaller companies in particular, where the owner is actually transcribing several accounts herself. It also seems to be the same people applying for positions and never serious about working, just putting in applications because the grass always seems greener...

It's inexcusable rudeness and poor business sense, - that will come back to bite them someday.

why do MTSO apply - ep

[ In Reply To ..]
I agree too. I have posted my resume twice to a certain company and have not heard from them. It has been at least 3 months if not longer. There should be a rule that you (the company) should at least acknowledge the resume if one was sent within 1 month-6 weeks. The positions I that I applied for are still up on their website.

Explanation of which resumes I do not respond to. sm - Recruiter

[ In Reply To ..]
I am a recruiter for a large national MTSO. We have a great team of transcriptionists and very little turnover, except for the few that job hop every few months that have worked for every service out there, never happy.

Anyway, when I put out an ad, I am very specific on the qualifications I am looking for, the modality I am hiring for, the shifts needed, the equipment or specific software needed (i.e. WindowsXP or Word 2000) and any particulars that narrow down the applicant field to those that would fit my specific opening(s). I also specify how to apply and how we accept applications.

For every ad I run, we get anywhere from 100 to 500 applicants. At least 100 of them are from offshore companies or individuals. At least 100 of them are still in school or just recenty graduated, even though my ads all say a specific experience level is necessary. That leaves 300. Of those, 100 will have typos in their resumes; I automatically toss those out. Another 100 will state that they can only work ___ days and ____ hours and only _____ work type, never what I have open as stated in the ad.

That leaves 100 or so. I start to make calls and send emails. About half do not have what we are looking for, even if the requirement is listed in the ad as a requirement. That leaves 40 to 50 for me to call and interview. It often takes 2 or 3 tries to reach someone. You would be surprised at how many 2-year-olds answer the phone, which is something that should NEVER happen if you are applying for jobs. I have talked to people who have babies screaming in the backgrount, dogs barking and TVs on very high volume with kids' programs. I have people tell me that they need to work at home because day care costs too much, because they need absolute flexibility, that they need a lot of time off because their kids are active in dance or sports or drama or music and have a lot of travel involved. I hear a lot of people who want to make more than I advertised for, sometimes even double, and then get mad because I won't and can't meet their demands. Some complain that their ex-employers (or current employers) are too picky and expect them to have perfect grammar and spelling (!!). I've even had a very nice, very qualified lady tell me that the FT position I had was too much for her, that she was looking to work 2 to 4 hours a week, flexible on non-ESL doctors and ER only.

Of the 500 I get on average, usually less than 10 fit the requirements, have the necessary skills and can work the days and hours specified. Of the 10, only 4 or 5 are actually hired, and of that 4 or 5, only 2 or 3 actually have the quality that they bragged of, and there is always someone who promises 1500 lines a day and never does more than 200 lines a day because of nothing but drama on their side.

So, the flip side is maybe there is something in your resume that causes you not to be called back. Maybe there is a typo that you don't see because you have looked at it too many times. Maybe you need to be more specific when applying. Or maybe it's just a sign of the times; there are a lot of rude people out there, and just because I'm not one of them doesn't mean they don't exist.

very informative - thank your for being real. (NM) - appreciate

They get hundreds of applications.

I heard of one company that posted and had 200 resumes in the first day and 100+ a day for the next 2 days.

Rather impossible to send a response of any sort to 400+ people I would think.

I Have Idea All MTSO Get Together In Conference Call And Decide
Dec 26, 2010

gotten pay down to basically nothing, what else can we do to get more facility money for ourselves.  We cant squeeze facilities more without them going elsewhere, guess we have to squeeze MTs more.  Heck, some have even decided to make MTs pay for platform costs, pay rent for loaned equipement - loaned so MT can do the job MTSO needs done - or started a "mentoring" division so they can basically get work done for free.  What will they think of next???? ...

Reporting Time Pay Aka On Call Or Call-in Pay
May 08, 2015

I am considering requesting this pay which (depending on the state) considers us to be on-call and must be paid for part of our shift if no work. I have had it up to here with Nuance and running out of work, adding more and more accounts and STILL no work. Got a second job and STILL being screwed by Nuance in the sense that I cannot rely on my first job (income wise), because when there is enough work they manage to screw my cpl with their lovely FIESA, then as soon as I have no errors the work ...

ON CALL WITHOUT PAY?
Mar 25, 2011

An account manager sent out an email suggesting that we monitor our emails on our weekend days off, and then log on to help if requested. Am I the only one who expects to not check emails or work during my one weekend day off? Even though I have a required schedule, should I expect to work 7 days a week in this industry, including on my days off? Am I asking too much to be allowed to not turn on my computer on my day off, or to be allowed to go out without worry about rushing home to check em ...

On-call Pay?
May 24, 2013

Does anyone have experience with being on call, whether you have to be paid for on-call time?  My husband works a job in maintenance and they just recently cut their hours back to 32 hours per week, having them off on Fridays.  They told them that if an "emergency" occured on their off day that they would be called in.  Well, today, husband went out of town to visit his mom and his boss called and told him to go to a work order that needed to be done and he told her he was out of ...
