Satellite, DSL, Dial up and Bayscribe - MovingMT

Posted: Apr 13, 2010

Does anyone use something other than broadband with Bayscribe and how does it work for you?

I've used both DSL and dial-up - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I used to use dial-up when I lived out in the boonies where nothing else was available, and it was very frustrating. Bayscribe would run very slow on dial-up and I'd actually have time to go and get a cup of coffee before the next job was finished downloading. Back then, I asked about whether I could use satellite instead, but was told that Bayscribe will not work with satellite.

Then after I moved, both cable and DSL were available in my new area, so I had a choice. So, I chose DSL and Bayscribe ran great (and much much faster!) with the DSL.

So basically, Bayscribe won't work with satellite, and avoid dial-up (if you can) because it runs slower than molasses in the winter.

Either DSL or cable would be your best choices and I think they're pretty much the same as far as how Bayscribe will work.

Hope this helps.

Even though I was told by my CCM she has sympathy for my plight I am required to download 6.1.  Okay, I had to take my puter to parents to get the tutorial.  I don't have a problem taking the CPU over there to get the 6.1 upgrade (downgrade if I see correctly by others).   I have dial up and cannot get DSL.   I have been with this company for 17 years.  I am not an overt cheerleader, but I need my job and cannot go outside my home.   Someone ment ...

Is there such a thing as a dial shunt surgery?  I can't tell if this doctor is trying to think of what she wants to say or if she's tripping over her words on this one.  The next number in the past medical history is multiple caths, if that helps at all.  Her diagnosis is end state renal disease/on dialysis. ...

Dial In Dictation Systems

I need to add the ability for a new account to be able to utilize dial in dictation.  He was previously doing this with another service and I would like to offer the same thing to make it easier on him.  I am a small shop and am looking for something that is cost effective but easy to get set up and going on. Any suggestions on where to start for this would be greatly appreciated. ...

Can No Longer Download Jobs Via Dial-up Connection
Jul 28, 2010

I have been working successfully for Softscript for the past 5 years via a dial-up internet connection.  Recently, I have been having trouble downloading jobs; i.e., I can't do it.  The tech person I have been working with there says that my computer is fine - it is just that dial-up is outdated - "no one expects anyone to have a dial-up connection any more". I don't understand how it can be working one day and not the next.  Anybody have any ideas, fixes, etc.  I ...

How Does A Company Know If You Use Satellite
Nov 22, 2011

Many companies specify no satellite. Is this uncompatible with their system or do they just prefer no satellite so say no satellite? I mean how do they really know or not if you have it? Companies That Use Satellite
Sep 25, 2012

Are there any companies that you can use satellite instead of DSL?  I am considering moving pretty far out that does not offer DSL.  I REALLY love the jobs I have, but I remember when hired they said no satellite.  Does anyone even know why this is?  Will the programs not work with satellite or is it just some kind of privacy policy and would they find out if I just switched to satellite when I moved and didn't say anything? ...

Response To Blondie Re Satellite

Blondie, Opti-Script does allow satellite.  They have a few openings on the Job Board right now and although it does not say that in their ads, when you go to their website it says satellite allowed but not preferred.  Also Precyse allows satellite but I do not recommend that company.  But maybe that's just me!  Good luck! ...
