Macro in Word to go back and capitalize something? - Happy MT Robin

Every once in a while my shift key doesn't take and I have a sentence started without a capital letter. Is there an way to create a macro that can go back and do that so that I don't have to either backspace out or stop and go back and correct and then carry on?

I'm thinking to do a find function to go find the last period and then tell it to skip to the next letter, but I'm not entirely sure how that would go.

If anyone's got any suggestions, I'd really appreciate hearing them. Thanks.

Easiest way is to use AutoCorrect instead of a macro - sm

You didn't say which version of MS Word you're using, but I think it might be unnecessarily complicated to use a macro for this.

The easiest way would be to do this through AutoCorrect.

Go into your AutoCorrect options and just make sure that the "Capitalize first letter of sentences" is checked. Then you don't even have to think about it because if you forget or your shift key doesn't take, Word will do this for you automatically.

I think it has something to do with my Smarttype, because it doesn't always do that for some reason. I'm using Word 2003 and usually it does automatically capitalize the first letter, but sometimes, it just doesn't.

It may be an incompatibility between SmartType - and Word then?

I use Instant Text and I don't have that problem with AutoCorrect, so I'm thinking that there may be some kind of a conflict between Word and SmartType (or maybe some other program)?

It drives me nuts because I, like most MTs, use numbered lists all day every day. Their work-around is to "retype the letter as a capital letter." Duh. Or a couple of others that are more trouble than shifting to cap.

I am not macro savvy, but would love to know a fix for this.

bullet or number followed by punctuation (even if you have this option turned on in AutoCorrect). Microsoft changed this in the 2002 version. The alternatives are pressing Shift + F3 (the change case command) immediately after typing the first word, pressing the shift key when typing the word, or a macro to go through your document when you are finished.

If you happen to use Instant Text, the auto capitalization feature fixes this in Word without the need for a macro.

I've been having problems with my macros "sticking." I'll make one, and the next day it doesn't work. I'll go into the list of macros and it'll still be there, but the command won't work. I am editing using a word based program and the text populates with spaces in between the ROS and PE sections every time. I have to manually go to each line and eliminate the space. My hand is taking a beating. I would like to know if I could find a function that when I highlight that section would make that particular space one between each line instead of two.
