Than everyone else on here! I'm very happy here. I have no problem with meeting quotas, have no issues with PTO, like the matching (up to 4%) 401K, and for the past 3 weeks have had OT everyday & have worked around 55-60 hours every week with a corresponding very hefty paycheck.

my account lets its hospitals get OTAT chronically without offering overtime. I really don't understand how they get away with it, and hope that it catches up with them eventually.

It's good to find someone happy. I must say those of us that have worked for the best company previously are in shock working for Nuance. MT is not what it used to be, so perhaps you just don't know better! Miss the flexibility that we used to be allowed and it all worked out then just fine. Those days are long gone I am afraid. Used to want to go the extra because it was worth it getting paid more and we felt part of a family, but with pay cuts (yes really pay cuts) who has the incentive?

@WWJ I would bet that we used to work for the same company before Nuance bought it. I loved my job so much. I used to wake up and look forward to my work and being part of that family. Those were good times. Always positive feedback, good pay, good hours. Never out of work. No pressure and got the job done. sigh.....

To have to work more hours and make less money is not the way it should be but it is with Nuance. It irritates me to no end that I have to do this for now anyway, but I am out the door soon. Work more, less money, NO THANKS! Mgmt must be getting big bonuses though of course.

I hear you. I just can't make ends meet anymore much less have any extra $ to do or buy something fun. I'm out soon too. My husband and I are starting a horse boarding facility in the next year or so and hopefully that will supplement us enough I can get the heck out of here before I have a stroke :) Good luck to you. At least we had the opportunity to experience what it used to be.

I don't know if you know this or not, but some (a minority) of the accounts Nuance has, they are not allowed to send work overseas. Is that your account? That would explain quite a bit. I hope things stay nice for you. I begged to be on an onshore-only account, just as my secondary, and I never got an answer, which is one of the many reasons I quit.

I want to be happy and make quota too. Jy supr micromanages. Nothing is ever okay, it's ether hop on and help out or flex your time.

This is undoubtedly the most rigid, unyielding company I've ever worked for in my 37 years in this industry. I'm leaving with no notice as soon as I can. Perfection is all they want, nothing less. Human error isn't even acceptable. Why are we blamed for blanks due to dictators who care little if they are understood???

Maybe it has a lot to do with my TM. She's always there if I have a ? She even answered me on her day off. Her supervisor even sent me a note thanking me for working so hard & doing a lot of OT. That was nice of him. I appreciated it even though I wasn't doing it to please anyone just trying to get as much OT cause I'm greedy ;)
It would probably help a great deal if all the TMs were as nice as mine.
I'm really sorry that so many are unhappy. Feeling like that it probably is for the best that you change companies. Good luck!

your situation is no longer the norm. When the local community college drops the MT program due to the current job market; and veteran MTs are now offered 7 and 3 cents a line, which is clearly a drop in pay; and many sit idle for long periods of time due to no work or receive a rubber check, then the situation for most is no longer stable or reliable or even worthwhile.

I'm sure there are still pockets here and there where things work out, but it looks like things will only deteriorate further for American MTs. That's my grim prognosis anyway!

I really do hope that things continue to go well for you. However, everyone starts out with tons of work and then it all goes away. I had a nice account, too, lots of work (straight and VR). I worked OT when asked as well. I even had a supervisor above mine tell me to order a pizza and they would pay for it.

The speech engine gets trained and then the work goes. We went from not being able to keep up to nothing in about a year or so and it only got worse. This is probably what will happen to your account. Forewarned is forearmed. Again, I do hope you continue on and are happy.

I have an odd question. If a US trained Medical Transcriptionist works from home (in the U.S.), but then decides to spend 1/2 the year (or more) in a foreign country, is it possible (ethical/legal) to continue working as an MT while in that country? The MT would keep the US address, and bank account. All paychecks would continue to be direct deposited into current U.S. bank account. MT would continue to pay U.S. taxes on all monies earned. I know I am not the only one working 2 jobs or more. Between them I am scheduled 68 hours per week. I have them spread out enough I have "long breaks" in between to fix supper, take a little me time out around the lunch hour and housework kind of gets slighted.
