I checked out the NTS India website and was very interested about the pay they quote for an independent contractor. The values are in paise, which convert to 100 in a rupee. A rupee is 0.02 US dollars. For transcribing 30,000 to infinity lines on the day shift one would be paid 200 paise or 2 rupees, which would be 0.04 cents per line US. For speech 30,000 to infinity lines one would be paid 100 paise or 1 rupee, which would be 0.02 cents per line. These are the rates for >=99%, which I am assuming would be QC score. If <99% the pay would be 170 paise or 1.7 rupees or 0.034 US dollars for transcription and 85 paise or 0.85 rupees or 0.017 US dollars. And you ask why Nuance sends as much work to India as it can? I believe this answers the question very well and makes me wonder why they keep any work in the US.

The website is NTSIndia and go to the career development tab and the home-based independent contractor position, which lists the pay rates. The whole site is very interesting, especially if you think NTS in America is bad. It goes to show how much worse it could be.

This again? If you left, don't you have anything else to do? So I'm assuming you don't work for Nuance, so you are this bored? This just goes to show how crazy the American MTs are becoming - good grief! Why is the site so interesting? I could think of so many interesting things to look up if I had left Nuance as you did. You can be glad you left all you want but the rest of us are still here. Do you want all of us to quit too and spend our time stalking the Nuance websites?

No one is defending Nuance! Let me guess the next post is going to say someone is a suit or management or whatever - HA! AHHHH it's a conspiracy!!! Same posts every single day. Yep pretty crazy. The better question is why someone who doesn't even work at Nuance would be stalking the website. Sad, just sad. It's a job. It pays by the line. It's not a good job. The end.

Maybe a lot of posters here and on other sections of the forum are suffering from workplace stress. Some folks handle stress better than others do. My DH had to go on medication due to a vindictive supervisor. He still talks about work problems despite being retired a couple years now. Yes, I'm tired of hearing about it, but he needs to talk about it. Maybe this is how some of our co-workers and former co-workers need to vent and de-stress. If it helps some of us to be able to talk about it, what is the harm to you or others who are happy? I don't understand it. Maybe it is a form of post-traumatic stress disorder.
