Regarding "monitoring," George Orwell would be shocked - New

Posted: Apr 20, 2013

Just to add a little to my prior posts on this subject, I invite all of you to search "data complex Utah" and you will be amazed at this gigantic "storehouse of personal communications of  every American" that is being built costing billions of dollars.  It is about 1 million square feet of space and the maintenance of that building will cost billions too.  So MModal monitoring us is nothing compared to the supposed fact that every single thing we do electronicallly (phone, internet) will be stored (is already?) in Utah.  Wonder what you all think of that.  Again, for me personally, to them:  Have fun.  I don't do anything that exciting.

Since we work remotely and this is the healthcare - industry; dealing with

private patient information, it could be a compliance thing on their part. They have guidlines that they have to adhere to for HIPPA and privacy laws; But thats only if they are actually using this software to monitor us. I have not taken the time to google and find out what the software does, so it may not even be something used as a monitoring tool; who knows what it is.

Monitoring - conspiracy freak

Recently my son-in-law put my name into a site for used cars because I've been thinking about getting a smaller car. To my horror, my address and make and model of my current car came up! Life has become so bizarre. David Icke, even Jean Dixon years ago, predicted this sort of thing would happen. We already are losing our freedom of speech. Before long we'll have no rights whatsoever, just robots obeying whomever's in control. In the meantime, I object to MModal spying into my personal business.

Heard of Jean Dixon but not David Icke. I will research him. Interested in what he predicted. That is frightening that all that information about your car (!) was on the internet. We are losing more and more of our rights because it's happening in such a methodical, sneaky manner. I don't like MModal spying either.

Spying in Utah - Geek Guy Jim

Well, I live in Utah, and I can tell you that the powers that be in this state spy on nearly everything everyone does. We moved here from a large city and are just shocked at how much social monitoring goes on, from who drinks a beer to who does what with whom. It's frightening.

That is eerie. Is it for "security?" What do YOU think? This should be broadcast loud and wide so that the uninformed and/or apathetic are enlightened. The history books are filled with what people in power will do. This will be an interesting chapter, if unaltered :)

how do you know this? - details please

who are these "powers that be?" and how do you know they are spying on you? To whom are they reporting?

Apt author reference, but, on the contrary, I think he would be - the *least* shocked. nm

Shocked
Jun 30, 2013

I was curious, so I just looked at the program for medical transcription on Kaplan's website to see what it was about.  I was actually curious if they said anything about one being certified upon program completion.  Oh my goodness - the program is an associate's degree program, 90 credit hours, at $371 per credit hour.  The total cost of the program is $33, 390.  That is criminal.  Simply criminal.  I guess the cost is so high because Kaplan is a private ...

Don't Be Too Shocked By Christmas Layoffs And Firings
Dec 14, 2011

I used to work for a company that had an annual Christmas layoff. It was almost a joke with those of us who had survived the latest round. Most companies have a budget. In bad times they tend to run out of money at the end of the year. It's rotten and shows poor planning, but nobody should be shocked when it happens. ...

All This Monitoring Talk
Jun 24, 2010

I realize we work on production and that we're not making money when our fingers aren't moving, but I don't think there are too many jobs where you're actually actively working for the entire 8-hour shift.  There's always downtime.  I understand it being a problem if people aren't producing a reasonable amount of work during their shift, but come on!  Being chastised for stepping away from the keyboard for a bathroom break or to grab a cup of coffee i ...

Emails Monitoring How Much We Do
May 07, 2012

Well, I will not be reading these emails calculating how much time we are working and "goofing off."  They will only make me less motivated and quite frankly angry.  I am not a robot, there are times after a long difficult report that I have to step away from the computer to give my brain a few minute break.  As long as I do the required long count and then some, I will not concern myself with this emails. ...

ABOUT THIS MONITORING CRAP
Jun 30, 2012

About this monitoring crap.  Why aren't the docs monitored?  Why do we have to change our ways and they don't have to.  On ASR there are a couple of docs who dictate in the "wrong order" and I have to move everything around, cut and paste, do the caps thing, etc.  Almost all of them dictate in the order of the standard headers.  Some of these dictators change their mind 2-3 times in the same sentence not to mention they change their mind and you do not kno ...

Remote Computer Monitoring?

Question RE: Monitoring...what If We Are NOT In The DQsribe
Dec 01, 2010

Do they still monitor keystrokes and mouseclicks?  I.e., if I am in Google...or checking AOL email, are those keystrokes counted?  I do think giving real feedback on how lph is good, but I agree...it is creepy.  And what about breaks?  I have always just stayed in a job and taken a 20 min break and then come back.  Should we not do that?  It has never been really clear.     ...
