Questions about PODs and audits - curious

Posted: Nov 12, 2014

I understand that many of you have gone to this POD system, and have read that we will all be doing that.  I guess I would be considered East, but I do not know.  I have not heard anything from MM about it, but I find it hard to sleep at night worrying about job security.  Is it just on say Fluency?  I do not really know what that is and have never used it.  I came as an acquisition and work on the ChartNet platform.

I have also read that you have like 100 different accounts.  I do not understand how that is possible.  I am on 4 accounts, and each one has pages and pages of specs.  Within those specs are instructions on a lot of different work types and many, many different doctors.  Do you actually have to read the account specs on every report you do?  How can you make money like that?  Not only that, but if they are for doctors in many different locations, that would make it real tough.  You should be able to have some sense of familiarity to improve your production and accuracy.  Are they tryiing to get rid of clients too?  It seems to me that without local terminology knowledge, ie, medical facilities, hospital names, doctors names, counties, etc. MM will need to be hiring alot more QA people because if you have over 100 different accounts, this is a problem.  Are they basically having you do all this research for free, as well as not paying you for inserting that copy?  I am finding that is what VR is all about.  Besides correcting all the details in a report (which you can do faster on VR, not) your job is basically to do all the important research it needs, for free!!

Also, are you all Tier 3?  If you were a Tier 1 or 2, are the OP reports separated from everything else?

Lastly, I read where some of you are audited once a week, and some once a month.  Who determines this, and when.  i have been here 2 years and have only been audited once.  I am very worried.  I have terrible ESLs, and others who are awful, and I usually correct their grammer, etc.  I have never had anyone say anything about that, I have just always done it.

Thanks for anyone who shares info.  If I am going to go on a POD, I would like to know what to expect, how you are doing it, and/or if I am washed up here.

I am Tier 3. I think there around 25-30 facilities in my POD. Thankfully, my HDSM has made the client profiles as close to being formatted as possible so it's pretty easy to find the things I'm looking for.

I've given up on reading each CP through each time I get a new facility because it's a total waste of my time. I quickly scan through to the bottom of the CP and see if there are any special requests that the hospital has asked for. I also quickly click on the headings list to see if there is a preferred headings list. I then begin to type or edit the document. If they say the patient's name, I look on the CP (which is formatted to the left of my editing screen in Fluency) to see if the patient's name is allowed. I get down to allergies and I quickly look to see if there are any specifics regarding allergies (all caps, etc.). I get to the ROS and PE and quickly look to see the formatting. I get to the meds and quickly look to see if they want them numbered.

No, this is not how MModal will train you, but if I took the time to read every CP through with every facility, I'd be reading a new CP with every single report because I never get 2 reports from the same facility back to back.

That is exactly what I do, or quickly look at an old - report by the author for formatting.

I don't have time to waste studying all the instructions for all the accounts.

If you want less anxiety, do not come to this board. - SM

I used to live with daily anxiety because of reading this board. I now only come here when the system goes down to see if everyone is having the same problem or if it is just me.

Since not reading this board life has been so much better. I just put my head down and work, and don't worry about what is being said over here, most of which has never come true for me, and if it does, well I will deal with that when it happens.

I have plenty of work, have had tons of overtime, typically do 350 to 400 lines an hour and get 100% on audits.

I have been moved to a POD but have my same main account that I have had for years, with more accounts now as back up, but back up accounts come rarely, and I will deal with the new backup accounts just as I always have in the past, learning them as I go.

Since you are not on Fluency, I would just recommend going about business as usual, be glad you have work, and don't worry about what is to come until it actually comes.

Couldn't agree more. - x

This site is like a drug and it's time for me to quit coming on here myself.

Pods
Dec 25, 2014

Anybody ever watch Lockup on MSNBC.  I never really have, except there was nothing else on to watch and this prisoner (Oklahoma) was talking about how he didn't want to be transferred to a certain "pod" because he had a problem with someone in it.  OMG - prisoners are also in pods?  I'm speechless. ...

Why Are Many On PODS, And Many Are Not?
Mar 13, 2015

Is it because of the work availability on accounts.....meaning there is not enough regular work coming in from them individually to warrant "a primary account or a primary MT?"  Is it because of client specs for different accounts?  Does it matter whether it is clinic work or hospital work?  Is it because they could put all of these accounts on the same platform?  I really do not get this. I am not on a POD.  I work on Charnet.  I have a primary account, ...

Quality Metrics Since The PODs
Feb 11, 2015

Is it just my accounts, or has anybody else noticed that their BOB/POD quality metrics have taken a nosedive since they started these PODs?  Previously, my BOB would be in the green constantly and we would get praise for it.  Now, all I ever see is red..too many criticals, too many major and minor errors.  Seems like this whole POD idea is working marvelously.  I hope they fail to meet contract and clients start dropping like flies.  Of course, that would be our fault. & ...

And You Thought MModal Was The Only One With Pods?
Mar 24, 2015

I was almost hysterical during a meeting I had today at my daughter's high school when the Math teacher stated that..."The kids are now all being put into PODS so there can be a collaborative method in teaching math..."  (apparently this is the new Common Core standard that most of the kids seem to be failing at miserably).  Who knew Pods would become so popular? ...

Audits/qa
Dec 03, 2009

Can somebody tell me what this audit/QA procedure is now?  I'm so confused with when they are done, how many reports are done, etc., etc.  I had been told earlier that 5 reports would be randomly pulled monthly and checked.  You would be notified you had been audited and the results.  If you passed, another 5 would be done the next month and so on.  If you didn't pass the audit, then a redo audit within 7-14 days would be done on another 5 random reports.  ...

Audits - Huh?
Feb 04, 2015

I don't understand how auditing works.  Two of my reports were reviewed, and in each case, a word I had puit in had a line through it, but then it was replaced with the same exact word!  For that, I got marked off, getting only 99.50% or 99.75%.  I wish there was a way we could give direct feedback to the auditors at the time we're viewing our reports. ...

I Keep Going From 100% Audits To 98.7 Or 98.8
Feb 04, 2015

every week I will either get a "Congratulations, GREAT job- You are an excellent MT - I'm so glad to have you on my team! or a "Your quality is unacceptable at 98.7 (or whatever--it's always at least 98%)...you will need to take the Care Boost Quality class.  Jeesh.  What it is?  Am I a great MT or am I a failure of an MT who needs quality classes?  Make up your mind!!  Either leave me alone to do my job (yes do alert me of my mistakes, but if it's a simpl ...

QA Audits
Mar 18, 2015

:(   I have tried to give the QA program the benefit of the doubt, thinking it was being done fairly, rewarding us for near perfect QA scores.  I have managed to keep my QA score above 99% every week until last week.  Before last week, I normally have 8 to 11 reports pulled for audit, some short, some long.  Last week I had 1 critical, 1 major, and 2 minor mistakes which dropped me down to no bonus pay.  Not faulting anyone for that, totally my mistakes, legitimate errors.  But....once th ...

Anyone Been On PM Lately Over Audits?
Apr 03, 2015

I have only had 3 audits in 2-1/2 years. Even though I received notice of scores of 99.6 or 99.7, I did not receive any account of what my mistakes were to produce those scores. A comma? A hyphen? Not sure. They should let us know in case we keep doing it, and that could cause us to fail an audit in the future. Just think, a comma, a hyphen, Patient instead of The patient, his elbow instead of the elbow, etc. could actually cost you your job, your income, and your whole way of life. Sca ...

QC Audits I Never Knew About
Oct 14, 2009

Okay, I may be the last one to know this, but I thought the only QC audits I was getting were the ones showing up on the DQM QA Feedback screen where it says (1 unread) or (how many ever unread). When you click on them, if the report has been audited by your QC, it will have a percentage score.  But that's just for the reports you sent in with a blank. To see the ones randomly selected and audited, you have to use the QA Feedback Search feature and put in a date range. For example, I j ...

This Silly Audits
Apr 15, 2010

This is silly Not only do we need to follow CP guidelines but BOS and then DocQscribe standards. So even if you have the first 2, the third will get you audit.    Why can't they spend the money and create one set of rules to follow and be done with it.  We work on production now.  checking on previous dictated reports and then double checking guidelines from all three areas ??  and when you send in a blank now I am also being questioned about the audio etc.&nb ...

OMG, QA Audits Gone Horribly Bad
May 28, 2010

I got CRITICAL errors on audit for things like:  I typed "I used a translator telephone..." (that is what I heard) and the person auditing changed "a translator telephone" to "the translator telephone" (I suppose she heard "the" instead of "a"). In the physical exam portion of one report, the dictator used "was" throughout except for one time he said "is" and so I changed it to "was" to make it consistent and got a critical error for that. Please tell me how these are critica ...

With all the recent ridiculous corrections everyone's been getting, it might be a good idea to keep a record of the name of MME/QA who reviewed the reports.  If an MME/QA is consistently abusing you/us, at least you will know who to complain about to your CCM about.  ...

How Are The QA Audits Going At TT? Who's Left?
Oct 22, 2010

Since September, they've been looking for a total of 76 MTs. Are the audits over for another month or so and how many are gone over those audits?  Any long term TTers left? Does Anybody Else Think That MQ Just Does Want Us To Not Pass Audits?
Oct 27, 2010

Does it seem like no matter what you do it is not good enough? Here lately it seems like they only audit the worst dictator. The only reports they have audited for me lately have been ESLs lately. Maybe that is their way of trying to get rid of me. Maybe they want to thin the herd and just send it all to India. I just hope to find something soon outside of MT. I have been looking.   ...

TT Audits And Work.
Oct 31, 2010

I'd like to say I have had to learn accounts on my own and have had to cross reference many, many times.  Yes, I have seen blanks where if someone had taken the time to hunt for the word, it would have helped me also, but for the most part with what we have to work with, I have seen words that are highly inaudible by many, many doctors with bad dictation and yet what was typed was a wonder we could make anything out of it.  I have seen no help from the hospitals themselves as ...

Quality Audits-sm
May 02, 2011

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen lately.  I received a quality audit on 4/25 on my audit, which I passed at 98.3% (had one icky one in there).  Then on 4/29 got another email of an audit of 5 reports, did not give a total score, but they were all pretty darn good (3 at 100%, 1 at 98, 1 at 98.75).  Then on 4/30, another email, they checked 3 more reports (all those above 98% too).  But what is going on, are they searching for something bad?  Are they doin ...

To The Poster Below Regarding Audits
Jan 09, 2012

I am NOT going to read all those posts, but I just wanted to let you know that you are lucky you only get audited once a month.  I get audited DAILY, at least once a day.  Today I got audited twice, one 100% the other 99.75%.  If I can remember correctly, I got dinged for typing something like "Aorta was tortuous" instead of "The aorta was tortuous".  It was for an account that has a multitude of dictators - I swear there is a new one every day and no two on a consistent basi ...

Beyond Discouraged RE QA Audits
Apr 29, 2012

I don't usually post here - guess I've reached my discouragement limit for the night! I work on a very difficult account as I'm sure many of you do as well, and I spend a great deal of time listening and re-listening to these difficult dictators to make sure I am hearing correctly.  I just checked my audits again and see that I have received another 1 point deduction on a post audit for something they heard differently that I apparently did.  It frustrates me no end that ...

Who Performs The Audits? Is It The QC?
Jun 11, 2013

Audits And The Thread Below
Dec 04, 2013

I want to repeat this for those who may have missed it and I am not looking for pity.   Was moved to a new account after 4 years on 2 very difficult accounts with only 1 or 2 failed audits (and was always given a second chance).  After 24 hours on the new account and telling them there was one particulary dictator I could not hear because he kept moving away from the phone, they audited me, included reports from that dictator, and immediately put me on 100% QA at which point I finally ...
