Audits and the thread below - former slave

Posted: Dec 04, 2013

I want to repeat this for those who may have missed it and I am not looking for pity.   Was moved to a new account after 4 years on 2 very difficult accounts with only 1 or 2 failed audits (and was always given a second chance).  After 24 hours on the new account and telling them there was one particulary dictator I could not hear because he kept moving away from the phone, they audited me, included reports from that dictator, and immediately put me on 100% QA at which point I finally decided to retire.  Since I am seeing similar stories on this board now, I have to assume this is a strategy. I was only very part-time but was earning 10/6.

out of curiosity - how many more times?

Throw this broken record out the window. I am part time and make the same, and no conspiracy here. I have read this story no less than 20 times...what are you trying to accomplish?

Just - be

be patient and wait your turn. You have to be patient around here in order to get screwed. I assure you it will happen. When it does and you post your story, many will read and sympathize with you. There will, of course, be the one that it has not happened to yet who will criticize.

I don't mean to be disrespectful of your situation but ... - anon

I totally agree with the poster above. I can almost tell your story detail for detail myself because I've heard it so many times. I think everyone here was sympathetic the first 20 times we heard your story but really ... what are you hoping to gain from telling it over and over again on every thread, and then starting your own thread to tell it again and again?
I am - not

the poster. Don't come here that often and just saw the post with the response and responded. Maybe the poster feels the need to keep posting. Maybe if you don't want to re-listen to her, you should pass the post. If what you say is true and she posted that many times, it would be obvious that she is really upset. Maybe just don't respond or read.
It's hard to skip over her posts - anon

...when you click on a post called "Audits and the thread below", or some other non-descript post only to find a recanting of the story ... again.

I'll say it again, we've all been super sympathetic and we've expressed that many times but on a forum like this it tends to wear on people to hear the story detail for detail repeatedly many times a day for over a week.

Not everyone reads the board as much as you do - Repetitive

[ In Reply To ..]
There are always new posts about MTs being surprised that they have been audited and possibly threatened with 100% QA. They need to know it is not just them and they are not somehow incompetent, and also to be prepared.

Not 20 times - Disgusted

[ In Reply To ..]
more like 6 or 7 but you're right and I'll stop. However, when you read this board you can see it is happening to others as well. It just depends on what accounts you are on and whether or not they think they can replace you with someone who will work for less. Good luck!

I have never been audited - that I know of

in all my years with this company. I don't know if I should be waiting for the hammer to drop or not, but I can darn sure point out some MAJOR errors in the reports I can see in documanage on a daily basis. I do get QA reports back with mistakes so I know I am FAR from perfect, especially as the ASR quality seems to be getting worse.

YES...what is it with ASR and inserting/expanding/... - SOSDD

[ In Reply To ..]
stuff not even dictated. In the last 2 weeks I have noticed a large increase in the amount of corrections I am having to make. I see so many things inserted in silent spaces where absolutely nothing was dictated and no background to misinterpret. Are they trying to show the prospective client how good there system is at guess what the dictator will say? These are clearly speaking dictators, I can understand them very clearly. It is now taking longer to edit the ASR program than to edit the dictator.

Did You See The Thread
May 13, 2015

There's a thread on the Coding board where someone got her first coding job and got a higher salary because of her MT experience. Finally someone recognizes that we have value. It's a shame that it has to be a coding employer instead of an MT employer, but that's the way it is. MTSOs don't appreciate their employers; coding employers do. They demonstrate that by PAYING for services done, not continuous abusive e-mail, IM, and paycuts.   ...

Another QA Question Thread From Below
Dec 15, 2009

I am moving this up to the top because I think it is an important issue.  I am referring to my post below about looking at old reports and seeing the work of another MT at my company.  It was a VR report that was obviously not edited or just skimmed over.  I will look at other reports from this MT, and if I see more than 2 or 3 more with the same problems, I will report it.  As was said below, it is above all an issue of patient safety.  I am concerned about my ...

VR Person From Thread Way Down Below.
Jan 20, 2010

When a company decides to make an account VR, are all the reports a mess to begin with for weeks or months until the voice engine (sorry if that's the wrong term) learns from the "straight" transcription that is done?  Why do different platforms matter (i.e., E-scription versus M-Modal, etc).  Is it possible for a company to get an account and make it VR from day 1, or do they have MTs do regular transcription on it for awhile? I guess I'm just trying to figure outwhat I sho ...

The Long Thread Below
Jun 02, 2013

I am the OP of the long thread below.  In it someone says that MM has high standards and if you can't meet them, it's your problem.  Well, this company does not have high standards.  What it has done is create artificially high and unrealistic standards for the MT only so that they can find as many ways possible to reduce their salaries or terminate them if they so desire.  If they had high standards they would periodically review the dictionary and take out all the ...

To Answer A Question On The IC Thread Below, Someone
Mar 15, 2010

asked, "I am trying to get a grasp on the IC vs employee thing but I don't understand why a company would want to hire an IC then?" No one has answered this as of yet.   Why would a company hire an IC then?  Because they don't have to take out taxes, (including their share of Social Security), and they do not have to provide benefits.   All they have to do is cut the IC a check, and then the IC is responsible for all the taxes, including all of the Social Sec ...

regarding line counts, pay, etc.  I have been a medical transcriptionist for over 23 years, have experience in multiple specialties although orthopedics, neurology and cardiology are my favorite, and I barely bring home $600.00 every 2 weeks.  That is with me working 10-12 hours a day, 5 and 6 days a week.  I have been searching high and low for a new company, hating to jump ship, but desperately needing to earn more.  My statement to those earning more than 600-800 a WEEK .. ...

Enjoy Your Job? (A Positive Thread For Change)

Just wanted to find out how many of us out there are loving our jobs? Personally, I'm currently in a position to have to choose between the day job that I love as a receptionist in a Fortune 500 company where I live in Colorado, and my night job where I spend about 5 hours an evening transcribing for a great ortho group out in New Jersey through a fantastic transcription company in the same state called DocuMed, and I can't decide which to keep!  I've been with both for abou ...

Thread About Accredited Colleges/Schools - School Loans - And Oppressive Debt Resulting From Them -
Jan 07, 2012

There's an interesting thread on the New MT board about accredited schools, school loans, and oppressive debt students are facing. I did a search today and there are dozens of articles talking about how students are thousands of dollars in debt for student loans when the education they got was so poor that they can't find a job at all. Others can find a job, but it will take 20-30 years for them to pay back the student loans.  They went to those schools because they got pressured ...

Audits/qa
Dec 03, 2009

Can somebody tell me what this audit/QA procedure is now?  I'm so confused with when they are done, how many reports are done, etc., etc.  I had been told earlier that 5 reports would be randomly pulled monthly and checked.  You would be notified you had been audited and the results.  If you passed, another 5 would be done the next month and so on.  If you didn't pass the audit, then a redo audit within 7-14 days would be done on another 5 random reports.  ...

Audits - Huh?
Feb 04, 2015

I don't understand how auditing works.  Two of my reports were reviewed, and in each case, a word I had puit in had a line through it, but then it was replaced with the same exact word!  For that, I got marked off, getting only 99.50% or 99.75%.  I wish there was a way we could give direct feedback to the auditors at the time we're viewing our reports. ...

QA Audits
Mar 18, 2015

:(   I have tried to give the QA program the benefit of the doubt, thinking it was being done fairly, rewarding us for near perfect QA scores.  I have managed to keep my QA score above 99% every week until last week.  Before last week, I normally have 8 to 11 reports pulled for audit, some short, some long.  Last week I had 1 critical, 1 major, and 2 minor mistakes which dropped me down to no bonus pay.  Not faulting anyone for that, totally my mistakes, legitimate errors.  But....once th ...

Anyone Been On PM Lately Over Audits?
Apr 03, 2015

I have only had 3 audits in 2-1/2 years. Even though I received notice of scores of 99.6 or 99.7, I did not receive any account of what my mistakes were to produce those scores. A comma? A hyphen? Not sure. They should let us know in case we keep doing it, and that could cause us to fail an audit in the future. Just think, a comma, a hyphen, Patient instead of The patient, his elbow instead of the elbow, etc. could actually cost you your job, your income, and your whole way of life. Sca ...
