Mandatory QA accounts - Very annoyed

Posted: May 21, 2013

Why is it on these accounts QA feels that they just HAVE to correct something.  Just stupid little things that do not matter here nor there.  I don't know why they think they can hear better than I can after 30+ years.  I think my ears are pretty well-trained by now.  And this happens on very clear dictations.  Just venting.

It happens to me too, and - I am an MME.

When I transcribe a report dictated by a doc on 100% QA, I cringe every time I get feedback. Some MMEs in my BOB make preferential changes but leave feedback like I made an error. No wonder you all hate us! It's unnecessary and infurating!

When training to be MME, they EMPHASIZED not to change - preferential things

[ In Reply To ..]
Maybe I just have an amazing supervisor but she said don't change things just because it is how you would do it. Also, not supposed to leave feedback unless it is absolutely necessary to explain why change was made and then it better not be snarky feedback.

Wouldn't it be nice if all the teams were on the same page with this.

I use CMA feedback - sm

The feedback I leave is sort of explaining why I did something, in case it gets QA'd. And once in awhile a helpful hint.

Ok, I have had enough! I will tell you why THIS MME does a full audio review of an account/dictator/ME on full review... because I also get audited and will get in trouble for NOT correcting your "little" mistakes. Remember this, we did not put the errors there, you did. Do you understand what 100% review means? It means listen and read every single word and make the file CORRECT. Geez, get a grip!

So you are saying that you are perfect - me

[ In Reply To ..]
and the rest of us are not. How can you say that you are definitely hearing the right thing and no one else does? Are you equipped with some kind of hearing super power? You're the one who needs to get rid of your god complex.

Ugh. Exactly the type of person who should NOT be an MME (nm) - anon

We've ALL had QA conflict with each other AND we've also ALL had times when QA was flat out wrong. Sigh

Mandatory...YOU are the one who is whining... - Nice

Yet you are sick of others who do it?! She ended her post saying she was just venting. People have the right to feel a certain way even though it's not your way. Why did you need to reply to her post in such a nasty condescending way? It IS annoying to be corrected for things that don't need to be corrected. How about MMEs who keep correcting me from, i.e. 2.5 cm and they put 2-1/2 cm which is INCORRECT! It's metric!!

First of all, let me say that I am truly sorry for offending anyone. That was not my intention. I, like you, have been with this awful company for many, many years and have seen a once fabulous career turned into this mess. I am NOT whining, I am not judging and I am certainly not making this about myself. My original post was simply made in a heated moment, after having to QA an MT document that was clearly not even read as it was full of errors, and I am tired of the MMEs being beat up on this board. I was originally an Editor for this company, long before they changed to QA. I had to earn my position and worked hard to get it. I respect every single person who does this work, American and Indian alike, and make no aspersions on any of you for how you work or your level of skill. The problem is not the MTs or the MMEs, it is the direction this company has taken the industry. I agree with you on over-editing, and I do not do that. When I change your file, you will know it because I leave a note telling you what I had to change and as a courtesy offer where I got my information. I agree that many MMEs are only in that position because they were forced, tricked or simply wanted to try it, but they are not qualified and do a great disservice to those of us who have devoted our careers to being professional and respectful in our feedback.

I do find it curious how easily some of you can read something posted, not have the whole story, and immediately decide that I am a snob, not qualified to do my job, and proceed to brutally judge me. Thank you kindly for opening my eyes and showing me that I misspoke originally, and for that I apologize. For doing my job and doing it well, I will never apologize.

I think this company deserves what it gets, after all, they don't pay for quality, just quantity and I do not blame the MTs for getting in their lines any way they can. It is what it is and "they" have set up the game, we just play it. Peace out and God bless you all. Again, my sincere apologies for a post gone wrong.
I truly appreciate QA - sm

What I don't like is mandatory QA for 1 stupid blank. Because there are so many reports I would have loved to send through to these arrogant doctors so they can maybe through the grace of God see them repeatedly and go "Hum maybe I need to learn how to talk like a human being" I know I live in a fantasy world, I just really love to stir up trouble. Honestly don't know how my QA peeps come up with some of the things I have skipped, really don't because the doc is nowhere near articulating. I am sure they are "the normal thing they say" which I could find but am not comfortable putting anything down I don't hear with my own 2 ears.
mandatory....Totally agree! - Nice

There are certain doctors who dictated so so fast you literally cannot understand them and I had feedback once where the QA put in comments, "I always correct this with you...." and then told me to look in the standards. Well, like you, I don't want to assume he's saying something when I'm not sure. And how can anybody be sure with this one particular doctor I have in mind, initials RG. He is horrible, horrible.
Mandatory.....Well put. Guess you were venting too. - Nice

Seems we all agree how lousy this company is. I refuse, for now at least, to become an MME. Less pay for even crappier work. We are all human, and so we all make mistakes.
No MME for me either - not worth it. NM

Sometimes I don't agree with the changes made. I bought a set of Stedman books years ago and still use these as reference. Just curious what books are now recommended as references and do you update to newer editions?

Is EMR Mandatory?
Apr 16, 2012

Perhaps I should know the answer but I do not.  What is the deal with the move to EMR?  Is it government mandated?  I just picked up a good side job transcribing for a cardiology group in my community and it's projected to last only until they go to EMR..the move isn't happening too quickly...are there penalties if they don't move to EMR?  Who is driving this? ...

Anybody enjoying the mandatory overtime.  Yea funny how we are on mandatory overtime and then get an email that states that if you run out of work, you are required to email them and flex your time and can only make it up after 5 p.m.  So again, you are required to check for your work throughout the day and if there is no work, sorry for your luck and if you want to be "lucky" enough to be employed w/ Nuance, you will then have to sign in and work on your off shift to make up your hour ...

Mandatory Meetings - DSG
Apr 22, 2010

How can a company order you to attend mandatory conference calls and mandatory HIPAA training and mandatory platform training sessions and not pay you for your time?  Every time they send an e-mail for something such as this, they refuse to pay, even for an hour of time.  They tell you these meetings and conference calls are a bonus for you, and that they are saving you money by you not having to pay for them someday (do I look like I just fell off of the turnip truck?).  They mus ...

Mandatory Training Without Pay - Really?
Jun 03, 2010

Just informed that I have to take MANDATORY HIPAA training without pay because I can take it "anytime on my OWN time!"  LOL!!!  The course is 45 minutes long!  It is not enough that we have to learn account specifics "on our own time", read the constant silly e-mails "on our own time", but now we have to do mandatory training "on our own time."  Oh, yeah - and we have to pass the class with a test at the end too!  I feel like I am in a volunteer job!   Hmmmm, I ...

Looks Like Mandatory CMT Credentials Soon.
Aug 02, 2010

Just like the post below stated, House of Delgates known as (HOD) from AHDI is wanting everyone to ensure patient safety and the integrity of patient records, all persons involved in creating, editing, organizing, or transmitting protected health information should be formally trained and hold credentials relevant to those duties.  To that end, AHDI should move forward with the support of its leadership in actively advocating for mandatory credentialing by whatever means that can be accompl ...

Mandatory Weekends....why?
Apr 09, 2011

Why do MTSOs require weekend coverage for every one of their accounts? I have 2 and have work up the yin yang during the week but come Saturday, I'm watching paint dry. My MTSO requires 1 weekend day, at least 4 hours. I changed my weekend shift TWICE to work during the "busy" dictation times and I'm still NJA. Now that it's getting nicer outside, I've got plans and wanna have a life again. The higher ups get off every weekend, why can't we, or at least rotate? I do ...

TT Mandatory Training

In my state, they are required by law to pay.  I called the labor board to verify.  By law, they have to pay if you are a non-exempt employee.  I can't file a complaint until the training is completed, but I can do it online the same day as I complete the training.  They (labor board) also advised that I keep emails and attach them to the complaint.  Unfortunately, it could take up to a year to get the money - my state is sloooow in resolving issues. Even still, my ...

Mandatory Certification?
Jan 14, 2012

I was told by someone who attended a recent ICD-10 academy (for trainers) that the OIG is requiring all (current) coders to be certified by the October, 2013, ICD-10 implementation date.  I am aware of the OIG's compliance guidelines, but nowhere in that document do I find anything about mandatory certification. Also, I am not sure if they meant certified in ICD-9 or 10, but it is my understanding that the last ICD-9 CCS/CCS-P exam will be given in March, 2013, and at this point nobod ...

Mandatory Credentialing
Oct 16, 2012

I was thinking... mandatory CMT credentialing might not be a bad thing.  I'd have no problem passing that exam, but would the Indian MTs?  If CMT were a requirement for ANY MT transcribing/editing US-based medical dictation, I think we'd lose our Indian partners pretty quickly. If AHDI could ("would" is probably more appropriate) make this happen, I'd gleefully pay CMT dues and attend all the seminars, etc. ...
