Is anyone even able to make minimum wage here? This is ridiculous!!!!!!!

I am paid by the line and I average anywhere from $13 to $15 dollars an hour. A friend of mine does really well also she brings home $1200 after taxes and insurance, I just barely hit $1000. But you can do it.

If you are new, it takes time to adjust to your accounts and VR and it also depends on your cpl rates.

Even when I am having a bad day I will not punch out till I reach my goal dollar amount for the day, but I can do that because there is always overtime.

I do radiology, paid by report, not only is there never enough work to do a full 8 hours but the reports are so long - lots of 7 to 10 minute jobs, some actually 5 or more procedures and get paid for ONE report!!!!! Would do great being paid by the line. I am NOT new, have been doing this over 30 years and make less now than I did back then!!!

Have you talked to your CCM about this? I know one rad group were thinking about going to line rate a couple of years ago, but I have not heard that they have.

How do you do this on VR? - struggling

I'm doing about 180 lph consistently and I simply cannot figure out how to edit any faster. I hardly touch the mouse, using all the keyboard shortcuts, use my expander. I have very few docs who use macros, so no help there. I'm a pro at google and don't think I spend too much time researching. Do you have any other tips? Or maybe it's just my accounts and it's hopeless.

than 4 cents per line for VR. I wont say how much, but I will say I make more than 4 cents.

I sit still and focus and just do it. It took me some time to adjust but once I got the hang of it I started making more money. I am sure I am not the only one. Not everyone posts on this board. Also I work on about 12-14 accounts just like many others and even though I dont know ALL the docs I am familiar with a lot of them and some days I actually do get the same doc several times.

I completely agree with your post. Focus and just do it. The problem for me is ASR is turning me into an ADD poster child. I get so distracted and bored so I check my email or check the weather or check this website, anything just to break the monotony. I can focus just fine on straight typing reports but I just cannot do so on ASR. I fight boredom every day. I know it can be done but I have started wondering if the battle is worth it any more.

Most of the ones who fly through the reports have tons of errors. That's how they do it. - An MME.

I tried the zip/fly through reports for a day once. Too many errors. I would have to give up my morals to continue that practice.

I can only wish those who make money on ASR that way would get caught in the job audit web. With my luck, I probably would.

They would also have to understand they post I replied too which they could not unless they had to edit the same MM SR junk we do.

They think MM SR is super duper and market it as such. They have to believe/dupe themselves to sell this stuff.

One could only wish they would have to spend a day or, better yet, a week in our shoes doing ASR and getting paid our rate.

No, I dont think so. Maybe I have just been doing this forever and dont have to look up a lot, and have built a good expander for me. Maybe I focus better, maybe I use more keyboard functions than you. Maybe you are just not as good at editing?

Dont lump us into a group that "just fly through" reports.

wonder if you are one of the MTs I edit, who makes the same mistakes all the time. It is just SOOO obvious many of them just put down the important words and build sentences around them, regardless of what is actually dictated. But like I said, I am sure that is not you.

If it doesnt impact pt care or change the meaning of a sentence, I dont care. I dont have time to chase every comma, I am pd on production just like everyone else. And 95% of MTs are great. Only see a job from them on occasion. That other 5% is another story. It is the same 4-5 MTs that make the same mistake over and over.

Sounds like you might do a better job than what the mentor had to offer as I was already doing what they were taught to teach. The only advice she was able to offer was to retype more (because the ASR ws so bad).

In case you read this as an attack, I'm serious about wanting a capable mentor and not putting you down.

Our accounts are very picky and trust me, if you make a mistake you WILL KNOW ABOUT IT. We are audited weekly because of their pickiness and it still does'nt put a dent in my production and I NEVER get emails about errors.

So just because a person does well does not mean they are flying through reports. It all boils down to how long you have been doing this, shortcuts used, the amount of time spent looking things up, expansions etc.
The ones who win our highest production contests for backlogs are usually - the ones with the most errors. nm

working an extra 2 hours and so lose the 40 hours you do work? I think not. I asked my CCM point blank if I would be fired for no OT. She could not/would not tell me yes. And if you are threatened with being written up, tell 'em to bring it on. I was written up once and it was the best thing to happen. It got me the tools I needed to do my job and I got the opportunity to tell my side of what happened. If you get written up just say the CCM was bullying you, trying to get you to work OT and you couldnt becuase of previous commitments. But really, I highly doubt they will write you up cause you wont work more hours than stated in your signed contract.

When I get bounced around in the 'cesspool', I find a few accounts that actually have good ASR, but they are usually small hospitals with good dictators and most probably have not many MTs regularly on those accounts.

This ASR junk is so unfair. A few getting proper ASR and way too many of us getting defecation product. I get angry when I am doing ASR and the ASR is bad (as per usual), but not "bad" enough to F11, as I don't feel I am getting paid fairly for my work. I do F11 if it is 90% retype. I used to F11 when I felt I was doing more work than I was getting paid for (50% bad output or more), but I got reprimanded for using F11 'too much'.

Sad thing is, I am producing the company average according to the BOOST productivity reports they send out. Add to that, my inactive time is way below their target.

What's horrific is I was told by the BOOST mentor that, in order to bring up my line count, I should retype more of the document.

My PTO rate was just calculated at 17.98/hour and I have actually calculated my own average rate as anywhere from 11-14$/hour AFTER TAXES depending on if I am having a bad day or a good day.

I used to work for a smallish company that was taken over by MedQuist. We were paid by the keystroke and I did the minimum that was required, we had 24 hours to do get in our keystrokes and it usually only took me 5 to 6 hours to get the work done. Here, I slave away 8 solid hours and still make less than half of what I used to, barely over minimum wage. I'm sure there are folks out there who can make it work here, I just can't seem to myself. I will add that my heart is just not in it anymore as I see jobs advertised at fast food places and Wal-Mart paying nearly what I am making now. Someday soon, hopefully, I'll find something where I will be actually treated like an assest to the business.

you have to be down to $50 or less to your name. The person in the article that was applying for food stamps still had $500 in savings and lived in her car. The person she talked to said,
"Then why are you applying for food stamps? You have a car! You have $500! Come back after the car and the $500 is gone."

When I looked at their website to see if I was poor enough for food stamps, it became obvious that I would have to first blow through whatever remains in my anemic little 401K. Never mind that I can't start withdrawing any of it until 2020!

If you wear a suit/dress clothes and work in TN, NC or India, then you betcha. If you are one of the honest, hard-working MTs, forget it. Apply at McDonald's, Wal-Mart, etc., or for welfare and food stamps first. This company sucks, as does the industry.

I have had it..The past 2 paychecks I made approximately $200.00 less..constantly getting work I have never done before from hospitals I have never done because there is no work in my hospitals, constantly having to run searches in DoQManage for reports because I have never done those hospitals before..then we are told there is a certain amount of lines/hour we have to do..there is NOT enough time in an hour to do all this plus transcribe.  MQ..JUST LEAVE US ALONE AND LET US TRANSCRIBE..Let ...

When did hospital jobs get almost as bad as working for a service?  When I have had hospital MT jobs before, we were either paid hourly, or hourly base pay plus incentive.  It was possible to make $22 to $25 an hour. I have also worked on production for a service and for myself and I can usually do 200 lph very easily, 250 lph if I'm concentrating, 300-350 lph if I'm concentrating and getting good dictation (that I'm familiar with and know what they are going to say ...
