Backlog Updates -- What are they for??? - Alice in Wonderland

Can anyone explain what good backlog reports are or what purpose they serve. Its not like we can pick the hospitals that have the most reports, or we can work overtime to clear out the accounts, or we can jump on the system to clear something out if it is not our appointed work schedule. What good are they? New TSM is constantly sending these meaningless reports out, that I can't understand because of all the abbreviations, and they are just taking time away from my typing.......

To crack the whip. My TSM, when there is a good amount of work, tells us to put forth "power hours" and to make sure to work all our hours. -- as if we don't put forth full effort every day????????

And when there is next to none work, tells us to flex our hours.

To make it look like they are busy. Gee, there used to another person who had the position of keeping track of the workload/flow, but they got rid of that position.

Personally, I don't pay much attention to these reports as the backlog is nothing I have control over. I sometimes glance at it out of curiosity. :-)

The MTSO I work for actually tells us the backlog and directs us to work on those accounts. There are some backlogs we have access to individually and can make decisions, within reason to type when needed. Your company is apparently just trying to drive you crazy! I guess they might be subtly threatening that if the backlog reports don't look better you guys could lose your account?

The question was Back Log Reports -- What are they for? Communication is fantastic, but the incessant backlogs take my attention off the report I am typing -- have to check to see if it is something important or urgent. They do not help me make $$ or help me learn anything new. They are an unnessary distraction.

Just had a weird thing happen to me. On Tuesdays they typically send out Microsoft updates which are usually to see if you have any kind of virus on your computer. Usually, this only takes a few minutes to configure my computer and this time, I thought it never would stop. Honestly, it was at least an hour to configure my computer. I think something is wrong. I work for Transcend and there are intermittent times where I go 48 hours without getting a status update and then WHAM, I get the last 48 hours' worth, and there can be 15-20 status updates over those last 48 hours. I get sometimes up to 6-8 emails from my various TSMs on a daily basis with their "status/OTAT reports" constantly asking up to make it a "great day" and really work hard to get reports moving in my various accounts. We've been having late work for 4 days out of every week for awhile now with our TSM calling for OT constantly. The funny thing is, all the accounts that I'm familiar with that are late are ones that do not send overseas (as an MME, I know because I QA the ILPs). Do you think that these hospitals refuse to send overseas and that MModal is going to say that the work was late because of lack of qualified US MTs, and that they should consider sending offshore? ...
