ARRGGGGGGHHH!! I am so upset! sm - veryveryoldMT

Posted: Apr 28, 2010

This new account we have been given (which I heard was sent back from bad ILP work) is absolutely impossible!  Yes I am in the south...   I will not say even the letter because already i had my posts deleted for putting it (even though others are putting it and not getting deleted).  Yes I feel I am being singled out for whupping.!!!   Now today I get reports back that have obviously been abandoned because no one else can possibly do this (among many hundreds same name ESLs) that is for the most part indecipherable.  Whoever is doing this, finish it even if you have 20 or QA markers.  Don't send it to QA, for God's sake just send it back to the CLIENT!!  We who are MT3s should be more than capable of knowing that even our QAs can't get this.  Garbage for reports which are usually only 15-20 lines at the most and I am spending an hour trying to make it right.   And MQ you are going to fire me for this I ask, when my production is going to be so bad?  And where the heck are the OP notes I am supposed to be getting as a 20 year MT3?   I have not gotten OPs in months!!!!  I LOVE OPs.   I have voiced concern to CCM over this, and that those of us oldies who are perservering on this awful account should at least be given a thank you for going over and above the call of duty.

Yeah, why do they put tier 3s on clinic notes? What a waste of intelligence. - mrs.krabs

They don't use their resources wisely.

I was just wondering - ??

Why do you love OPs? How do you remember all of those instruments? Aren't clinic notes faster to type??? I'm really asking a serious question. I haven't studied or tried to be tier 3 because it seems harder. Tell me what kind of reports you normally do. I'm a tier 2.

Personally, I love OPs because it is never boring - Tired

(except maybe colonoscopies and EGDs) I can usually fly through them.

Clinic notes, Progress notes, H&Ps, Discharge summaries, consults, etc., make me want to fall asleep. I hate typing the PE and ROS, med lists, etc. Boring, boring, boring. Just give me OP notes and I will be thrilled!

I don't find remembering instruments all that much harder than all the other stuff we have to remember. Mostly a quick google search or a good surgical word book can really help you out.

BTW, to veryveryoldMT, I am a tier 3 as well and also have seen my OPs disappear. This was after being promised that OPs would make up the bulk of my work when I was hired.

Do you have standards generally? - ?

[ In Reply To ..]
Are the ops generally the same thing over and over? Are there standards in place? I have to agree that ROS and PE stuff is boring, but I try to go really fast. I have the surgical word book from before internet and of course google, which I try to stay out of...like now when I'm here because I'm having an ADD moment. IDK. Maybe I should look into tier 3.
It depends. - Tired

A couple of my accounts are really great about standards and we have tons of them. Another couple have no standards at all :).

Sometimes they are the same thing over and over (like colonoscopies and EGDs, tonsillectomies, etc.). Sometimes they are different. I did a craniotomy about a month and a half ago...I had never done one before. That's what is the most fun for me because I get to learn new things.

With the new report lookup feature, you can often find a prior surgery by that doctor that is almost identical. I try to do that if it is a harder surgery or I can't understand the dictator. Then I just copy and paste. That can make it go a lot faster (would be even better if it didn't take a miracle to pull up reports).

I also create a lot of my own standards that I can just pull up myself because they do normally dictate the same thing over and over for the most common operations. If they are short enough reports, I just use my expander for them. If they are longer, I will save them in Word (identifying information removed, of course).

Right now I'm doing an 859s H&P. Oh, JOY!! :)
That really sounds good - ---

I'm definitely looking into it. It would be awesome for my line count, which right now totally sucks. I noticed that my MQ computer did not come with Word, it's just the Word doc VIEWER. Did you download it yourself from your other computer?
I use my own computer. - Tired

So I'm not sure if you can download a free version of the internet? Or if you have notepad or wordpad on that computer it will serve the purpose just as well.

There is a great free word processor called Microsoft Works that is just like Word (but FREE) that you can download off the net...if you can do that on MQ computer.

Free At Last!! I have been given a reprieve from the awful account!! sm - veryveryoldMT

Thank you my very special CCM for giving this very old lady a needed nerve restorative. I was truly in tears over this one account, which is not even in our BOB. I would like to say this though, I normally never abandon jobs because I cannot understand them well; but this time I just simply could not do it. I do feel bad for those of you who have this account as a primary in your region. Go west young man/girl. As to the OPs, yes they are so interesting and an everyday learning experience. The only type I don't like are ophthalmological reports...Ummm.... Now I can "relax" and go back to my old accounts. I truly did give it the extra mile and half effort on this other account out of our region. And yes, I got a thank you from the supervisor of that region.

Tier 2 go for it. The Tier 3 is good, even though at this stage I am not sure you will ever see the raise. It just means that you can do everything....

I think our OPs are being sent over to the Saffron Skies and silk palaces...

Special Blessings to all my fellow MQ MTers...

SO UPSET - calgal

I'm tier 3 also and also hardly get any OP reports..everything else under the sun including clinic notes. I was also hired to do mainly OP reports as that is what I solely did for the hospital I was working at when YOG recruited me over 12 yrs ago. It IS sad how MQ does not utilize us in a more productive manner. I maybe do 4 or 5 OP reports in a day anymore. I'm in SA5 and would LOVE to know who is doing all the OP reports in my BOB. I have been on 4 of my accounts for over 8 yrs now.

Customers Upset
Aug 07, 2013

Doncha love the frantic emails about how the customers are upset with all the out of TAT work?  Seriously what does this company expect when they push people out the door in droves due to the lousy pay, mistreatment, unethical way they run things.  Karma baby.  ...

Supervisor Upset

...because so many people are not making 99.5% accuracy in their audits.  Perhaps it is time to consider that whoever promised the client 99.5% accuracy has something quite strong in their medicine cabinet.  For years, the standard has been 98% and that is for a reason.  That number is possible with humans.  Machines sure can't deliver 99.5%; just ask anyone who has to correct the harebrained interpretations of SR, which never learns, by the way.  Do the doctors hav ...

Shouldn't I Be The One Upset?
Mar 19, 2015

When I send an email that states, "I am OOW on the following accounts: Blah, Blah, Blah and Blah.  I will check back later." Why do I get an email back saying, "Did you check Blah account?" Ummmmm, it is in the list I sent you...  TSMs are sending out their famous backlogs....THEY should know I am OOW, but I feel almost guilty telling them I am OOW.  I have had TSMs tell me that no one else was OOW on such and such a date. Ummmmm, it is likely they are on different accounts. ...

Failed Test And Very Upset
Nov 02, 2010

I am very upset, I took the radiology test and they say that I failed it and I don't see how. I have been a radiology transcriptionist for 20 years. There were only two questions on the multiple choice questions that I was uncertain of and the typing was easy. Has anybody else encountered this? ...

Kinda Upset, Would Like Input
Mar 25, 2012

I've been working in an office for only about 3 months now after about 12 years in-home transcription.  It's a busy office for a doctor who is kind of a "superstar" in his field and I love it.  Here's the thing...  it's a new practice, the entire staff has been here for less than a year and we don't all have hardly any PTO saved up (less than a year and all...) and the doc is going to be closing up the office for 2 weeks to go on vacation.  Several of ...

No Longer Surprised But Always Still Upset--sm
Nov 06, 2014

Yes, I have seen this enough times that it no longer surprises me.  There were 18 reports on my primary.  I have an hour left of my shift.  When I anticipated downloading the next one, all 18 were gone, gone, gone.  It is upsetting.  I would try adjusting my schedule but it would do no good, there normally is too little work during that time as it is.  I already will be taking about 3 hours of PTO for being OOW on Sunday.  It would be 4 but I have made up some ...

BayScribe Status Quo Today Despite Upset MTs
Dec 17, 2014

I see that there' no feedback on World Client from the meeting leaders regarding yesterday's heated teleconference discussion, just the usual "KEEP SMILING" (we AREN'T) cliche's and even a request for coverage commitments for the New Year's Day period.  I guess they're hoping if they don't deal with it, it will pass and we'll all go back to be good, mute boys and girls.  NOT.   I thought there would at least be a minimal response considerin ...

If It Were Not So Laughable I Might Be Upset. Their Fake QC Percentages
