$500 sign on bonus? - Medspeaker

Does anyone know when you get paid the $500 sign on bonus for working the hours between 12pm and 3am? Do you have to work for so many months first? If so, why do they call it "sign on" bonus?

Never thought I'd say this about an MTSO rule, but that seems fair to me. If there was no minimum "stay time," people would "sign on" and then quit right away. Six months doesn't seem unreasonable. Some folks will hang in there for longer, I'm sure; but I'm guessing there are a lot of people who quit before 6 months. At the hospital where I worked, they had sign-on bonuses for coders, but I think (THINK) they had to stay for 12 months. Whatever it was, I know there was a minimum amount of time they had to stay.

Generally, it has been my experience that sign on bonus' are used when you are having trouble staffing a particular time slot or days for the needed coverage. Now at the time you were hired, you probably forgot to ask about the specifics of the "sign on" bonus because sometimes in the fine print it will say something about 3 months, 6 months, and meeting production requirements. So you might want to contact your HR administrator to ask the question. Normally, most companies do want to pay the bonus but there is normally a clause like you can't change your shift for 6 months because they need you where you were hired at. Hope that helps you. P.S. Many times, the bonus is not paid until the following pay period after you complete the time factor.

Nuance hiring and offering $2000 sign-on bonus at the same time they are cutting our pay back lower than ever???? Wow! I don't even know what to say. I've been working on the same account going on 12 years and now I will make way less than what I did when I started. I was offered a job recently with Nuance and offered a sign on bonus after 90 days of employment. With all the bad reviews and low pay according to a lot of people on this board, I was wondering if anyone has ever received a sign on bonus? Do they actually pay it after the 90 days? I like the idea of working 30 hours a week, but thought it odd that I was not even offered 40 hours, just told that it would be a 30 hour work week. Also find it kind of strange that there ...

....because it says steady stream of work, amoung other un-truths...as I sit on this site reading and posting because I am OOW again and my shift just started.....Oh, and this is the shift NUANCE changed my schedule to saying that it would make sure I would not run out of work....but can only respond to their post via email....I guess they would not want my response.... ...

For a while they were advertising for help hot and heavy with big sign on bonuses. Now, no big help wanted ads and work is slim on many of our accounts. I guess not enough people have quit and they are overstaffed (surprise surprise). Those people trying to get the sign on bonus are probably trying to stick it out as best they can (as I would too if it were me). Thank you for my Q2 bonus, the first ever for me. However, I really could have used the money during the last 3 months. If divided up over those 3 months, I would not have had to borrow money for food. Please reconsider this punitive bonus plan you have. The money would be better served in my paychecks.
