Patient Care Specialist? - sounds like a scam

Posted: Aug 29, 2013

The job posting on the job seeker's board sounds fishy to me.  It says "no phone calls, please" but there's no phone number or company name even listed!  I bet it's one of those scammers that want us to give THEM money, and then they'll let us work for them.

It's there.... - Look

Just click the link to the job and it's there. Name, phone number, company info, etc.

How about looking before you start spouting off about something you have absolutely no information on?

No, I don't work for that company, but I don't like people jumping to conclusions and being disparaging when they have no information.

sorry, my bad - sounds like a scam

You're right, the info is there. Disregard my original post. Maybe it's legit and on the up and up.

It is a legit company and pay is $12.00 per hour. - sm

My niece works for them. She loves it.

How about answering without the nasty tone? - PetesSake

That's what I hate about this board! Would you talk to a someone like that if she was sitting in front of you? She obviously missed the phone number, and it does look a bit fishy! We're always warned about being cautious. I'm sure you are a nice person, but you felt OK with being snooty.

tone is in the mind of reader. I did not take it that way. - she has a point. anon

OP on the otherhand comes off as anxious, a tad paranoid.

exactly. And saying 'no calls' with no number listed - is no red flag when you can Google the

website and get the number from there, which most everyone does.

Quality Patient Care
Dec 05, 2014

The whole purpose of this new compensation plan is to focus on quality patient care, supposedly.  After 20+ years in this field, including multiple years within an office and seeing how these notes are used, I think I know a thing or two about patient care and how important the quality of the medical record is. Here are some things I know: Doing accounts consistently help you learn what doctors say from note to note.  Likewise, it also means you're more likely to hear a mistake w ...

If Everyone Is So Worried About Endangering Patient Care....
Sep 23, 2010

or a patient dying because of mistakes made in dictation/transcription, then why in the world is it acceptable for any dictator, be it MD, PA, NP, etc. to get on the phone to dictate half asleep, eating, or even probably drunk and get so confused themselves that there is no way you can understand what they are trying to say.  When this happens REPEATEDLY, this person is called a "difficult dictator."  However, if you make a mistake on their transcript or send it to QA, you are the ...

Flunking Audits --- And Nothing To Do With Patient Care!!!!!
Mar 04, 2014

I spend more time trying to figure out what and whether or not I will be dinged for missing or "adding" 'the', 'a', etc. Getting dinged now for leaving output just as it was dictated. Got dinged for missing 'of' even though there was a note that it was dictated really fast. Got dinged for putting the beginning 2 words of one sentence at the end of the preceding sentence, and I remember that report. I could not figure out what the doctor was trying to say! Got d ...

I Am Not 100% Focused On Patient Care Anymore.
Jan 31, 2015

How can I be?  I'm too focused on what I'll get dinged for. Every other day there are updates to account specifics.  How on earth can one remember every little thing for every single account (I do 5)? What will the auditor think of this or that?  Should I actually type verbatim even if it makes NO sense?  Should I change what voice wreck typed, i.e., "On physical examination, the patient..." The doctor actually said, "On physical, the patient..." So, this goes ou ...

Doctors Using Their Own Templates Jeopardize Patient Care
Dec 11, 2012

I don't know about the rest of you but I have very few male doctors who are careful enough to adequately edit normal templates to meet the patient's particular criteria. It's gets pretty time consuming to do it myself, especially when we are not qualified to do this in every instance. Female doctors almost always attend to these details. NPs, PAs do a much better job than the male docs, but few male docs either care, feel it is their job, or take responsibility for this editing. ...

Excellent Article About The Deterioration Of Notes For Patient Care
Sep 19, 2014

I have always hated it when the doctor crams in every disease the patient has in the first line whether or not the list is relevant to the chief complaint.  I can't think of anything more pointless than having a PA or resident dictate discharges when all he or she does is lift the consultants' impressions and plans and then plug in his or her standard "vital signs remained stable and the patient was discharged in stable condition."  They just chant thru it, as fast as possib ...

Aug 21, 2010

Please beware of this company.  They are literally preying on medical transcriptionists who are having a difficult time finding and keeping a good job (which I think is happening more and more to people who have been doing this for a long time).  Anyway, I received an e-mail from them after 9:00 p.m. this evening, a phone call from them (which I didn't answer) and then an e-mail following the phone call.  So we have blocked them.  They want a fee from MTs, and they will ...

Is It Just Me, Or Do The Words Clinical Documentation Specialist Mean
Jun 05, 2015

Ahima certainly gives it a different spin than MT, and an article at Study.com lists desired or common requirements as associate's or bachelor's degree, with nursing, HIM, or health information technology, and medical coding expertise.  So where does Nuance get off expecting "lowly" MTs to do this stuff, with 100% flawless accuracy, on lowly MT pay having to Google everything? I mean, they do not even pay us enough to be "lowly" MTs, and yet expect us to Google and verify that do ...
