Kudos to me for challenging doctor's charges - Noyb

Posted: Sep 18, 2013

The other day I came on here to really just rant some about the high cost of an office visit with a physician who saw me for about 10 minutes and charged my insurance company $300.00+. I felt the charges out of line and really gouging. I am not alone in posting about high insurance rates, high medical costs and charges such as the one my insurance incurred and in the same vein as far as I am concerned. That did not keep others from coming on here and thinking I was wrong about what I said and I would like to address this further. First of all, I did call the insurance company after I posted this. I was told that they had not yet received the charges from the doctor's office. When received they say it would be paid If they have a contract with this doctor but that I could certainly contest it after the fact. I did not have to wait that long. The doctor's office called me yesterday to say they had reconsidered and were effectively dismissing the charges that would have been charged to the insurance company. Some person got it wrong on here when I said I would review this doctor and they choose to think I was going to call the medical board which I never said. Another posting said "no one is going to have a clue without testing." I would ask you to tune into SirusXM radio, station 81 to be exact, and that is called Doctor's Radio. They constantly day after day give advice on any kind of malady a person could have, recommendations, complications and so on. This from doctors who are not personally seeing the people but from callers they take while doing the radio show. They do say they cannot personally treat you over the radio but they without doubt give out medical information on a caller and without testing. Someone said I was wasting their time. Again, I asked for no comments and I cannot waste your time, only you can do that. A person said I was paying for his office space, supplies, etc. and would I complain about how long it took if I had a meal in a restaurant and not pay for that. Certainly if I got a bad meal would definitely complain and would expect to be comped. As far as "are you the same person", the person writing that sounds exactly like the lurker who signs xx and is negative on most all posts they write so I am aware of their negativity, always. I have good insurance, a PPO plan that covers most everything including specialists which I am allowed to self-refer under my coverage. Again, even though not coming out of my pocketbook, still feel the same about a charge made which I think over the top just the same as if I were having to pay. If for my not speaking up for what I feel is right then would not have charges dismissed.

okay you are not all those things you were accused of - now your post is high and mighty

then why not just skip them? Your negative comment to her adds nothing to this conversation.

Here's a novel approach, if you don't like her posts don't read them. It's liken to touching a hot burner on a stove and complaining it's hot. You read it, your choice, now don't complain about it.

IOW, the office does not want you as a - patient

which is why they are dismissing the charges and sending you on your way.

I'll second that. - nm

I cancelled followup with him and also the ultrasound as I want a physician who is decisive.

And? - flyonthewall

.

So they felt you were troublesome and - fired you as a patient

[ In Reply To ..]
That is nothing to be proud of, either.

You did ask for help -- on the health board, earlier this month. - If I were a doctor

[ In Reply To ..]
I'd fire you too!

You are right, was on the health board - Noyb

[ In Reply To ..]
When I stated did not ask for help, I meant not on the main board which was true, stating facts here. Oh, don't mean to rain on your parade but not fired from the doctor. I was the one who cancelled a followup appointment and did not go back. Thanks anyway.

Wow, you all sound like a bunch of bullies. - anon

I hope the moderator deletes all these responses (and mine too). You just can't help yourselves can you? Is it that important for you to get the final word on an anonymous board? Sad.

Fired by the doctor, it was the other way - around.

Just Took The Tier 3 Test. That Was Challenging For Me....
Apr 16, 2010

Four OP reports; have never done OPs before.  Not sure I will pass though, as I had to leave 11 blanks in one report.  Left 1 or 2 in the other reports.  And it wasn't because the dictator wasn't clear; I just either could not hear the surgical term/equipment/suture and/or could not reference it.  Other than the blanks, I think I did pretty well.  I think you have to get 96.00 to pass.  Can someone who has taken this test before tell me if you get points ...

Thank you, thank you, thank you for making me smile or LOL or ROFLMAO during the mundane hours I must do my best to crank out tedious medical records faster than a speeding bullet for the pittance Nuance gives us.  It is wonderful to see we have not lost our humor in our downward spiral of being outsourced to the outsource companies. EMR Charges
Feb 21, 2010

Has anyone else noticed an EMR charge on their bill from their doctor's office?  My son went to the doctor the other day and when he brought home his receipt it was a nicely printed out list of all charges for his past few visits.  I picked it up to look at it and was amused, to say the least, every visit has a $10 charge for EMR.  So that's how they are paying for the nifty little hand-held computers they are using when they are in the exam room with you???  Made m ...

Error Charges?

Error Charges? Update
May 17, 2011

Received clarification from the company below. My question is: If it is extremely rare that these charges are ever made, why is it in the contract to begin with? "This section applies specifically to errors that are considered excessive. That would be errors that have been corrected numerous times and still continue to be made by the MT even after several corrections. This also refers to errors which are made and NOT marked for review for our QA staff. This does not apply during the p ...

Webmedx - Hidden Charges In Health Spending Account
Dec 29, 2010

Today I get the paperwork from the HSA that we had the option to join for the new insurance.  Included is a bunch of tasks they want us to hurry up and do (which we cannot do since they have not given us insurance cards and their website won't let us register without numbers off the card).  Also included is an "account fee and rate schedule".  They get to charge us $15 to set up the account and $2.95 every month thereafter.  They say this "may" be paid by our employer (y ...

MT Pay Versus What Nuance Charges Per Line For Hospital Reports
Jun 07, 2014

Does anyone know or maybe even make an educated guess...how much a hospital might pay per line to have Nuance do their reports?  We are guessing somewhere .12 to .15 upwards to .20/line.   Of course they are claiming that this will save them all sorts of money and we'd like to know if they are really going to save as much as they think they are.  Oh...and did I mention that Nuance said they wouldn't be sending anything to anyone who didn't speak English ou ...

Do You Ever Wonder How A Doctor (ESL Or Non-ESL) Would
Feb 20, 2010

react if we went in their offices and talked so fast that they couldn't understand what we said, if we ate during our visit, or yawned and continued talking?  I'm just going to wager a guess that they wouldn't appreciate it very much.  Sometimes, I think it would be fun to try just to see their reactions.  There are some that I transcribe that if I ever got the chance to do that I would.  Have an ESL right now that's talking way too fast.  Do they not ...

What About A Doctor's Responsibility?
Oct 20, 2009

I got in trouble today because I put a wrong patient.  The doctor dictated a billing number, name, and MRN.  The MRN was had a different patient, but the billing number and the patient name matched the ADT screen.  Not to mention the fact that he kept using "she" in the dictation and the MRN number matched a "he".  So logically one would just think he had the wrong MRN and I didn't want another QA submission so I sent it through with the correct billing number, name, and ...
