EPIC Clientele - Rose

Posted: Mar 01, 2014

List of Epic clients from April, 2013 (too many to paste).  Also see comments following for more who have started with Epic who are not on the list.  I thought some might be interested in checking to see if their accounts are using EPIC.

Wow, Rose! - sm

Yep, I see mine on there. Thank you, Rose, for answering the question I've been asking my supervisor for the last 2 months (with no response, of course).

This is exactly why we get NJA all the time - Old and Tired MT

[ In Reply To ..]
It isn't "the weather", "the holidays", "the snowbirds haven't returned yet", ad nauseam. This is EXACTLY why we have no work, no matter what the MTSO liars keep telling us!

Great, one of my two very busy accounts is going live - next year. nm

Silent Type MTs may want to check out this list - Thanks Rose! nm

Mine was on there which is why I was laid off - n/m

Many were probably told it was a "performance issue" (sm) - Rose

Some may have been denied unemployment for that reason. This might help with an appeal. Employers often lie about why someone was let go so they don't have to pay their part of the unemployment.
Rose, you should be an advice columnist! - sm

Seriously, Rose, you are SO understanding and diplomatic. You are a great researcher, and you have a way of calming people down when we get heated on these boards. I can see you with your own advice column in Family Circle, Woman's Day, More, etc. You also try really hard to find the good in every situation, a way for us to make it work to our advantage. You should think about it!
Thank you! (sm) - Rose

Thanks so much for you kind words! You put a much-needed smile on my face to start the day!

What is an EPIC professional? IT people? - IMANMT2

[ In Reply To ..]
One of the posts of people adding hospitals/clinics to the list wanted to know if any hospitals in ?Texas? were hiring "Epic professionals".

People who work with Epic systems - see the link

[ In Reply To ..]
They are people who are certified to work with that system. Planning for it, setting it up, maintaining it, programming it, training users, etc. Some would be IT, but not necessarily all of them.

Epic staff needs to relocate to Wisconsin (sm) - Rose

[ In Reply To ..]
Not sure if this is current info. I looked at their jobs available and none seemed to match what we do except one that was to test new software, but had to be in Wisconsin. Most jobs were for engineers, IT techs and software developers.

No, they do not - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
The question related to healthcare institutions which were looking for certified Epic professionals to work FOR THEM, not in Wisconsin. Someone asked what an Epic professional was. I posted a link to something that kind of explained what they were.

They are people certified to work on or with Epic systems in various capacities. Somebody has to run the systems--they aren't like PCs where you plug them in and they just go. These are massive computer systems that talk to other systems. They require a lot of staff.

The hospital itself wants to hire some of those people. And, no, OF COURSE it is NOT "what we do." That is why the OP asked if they were IT people. That is what they ARE, IT people.

Your post was completely off-target.

That explains an account that took their typing in-house--sm - anon

I thought it sounded too good to be true when a large account said they were taking their typing in house. Mystery solved now.

This is quite the eye opener and may explain why a lot of us are running out of work. Part of the problem is the complete mismanagement by TSMs and COMs, but the overall issue may be that EPIC is growing by leaps and bounds. It does not bode well for us MLSs. ...

Epic/Editscript
Dec 04, 2011

The hospital I work for changed over the Editscript last year.  Changeover went relatively smoothly, and we still had plenty of work to keep all the transcriptionists busy (after we stopped outsourcing the overflow we used to have).  Recently, the hospital switched to Epic electronic medical record system, and within a week the transcription workload plumeted to probably 40% of our former workload --not enough to keep our transcription staff busy.  It seems the doctors/nurses/etc ...

EPIC - Venting Session!

Impact Of EPIC On Coding
Feb 26, 2012

I was reading a post on one of the other boards about what an EPIC or point-and-click report looks like and it made me think about what it would be like to code a report like that.  Was wondering if any coders here code EMR point-and-click reports and does it make your job harder?  I would think that lots of narrative and detail would be more helpful in coding.  I've never actually seen an EPIC report so I don't know.  Thanks.  ...
