Transcend hand-off - pepper3269

Posted: Jun 17, 2010

I work at a hospital that will shortly transition over to Health Management Associates.  I have seen on their website they outsource all  transcription work to Transcend.  Right now all transcriptionists will be staying put but probably the first of year that will not be the case - can someone tell me anything about this company?  Line rate, ease of making good counts, etc.  Thanks.

Beware - RLee

Read archives on company board. There are many unhappy Transcenders. They do not live up to their promises and eventually you will be working 14 to 16 hour days just to make a living. Accounts will eventually have minimal work. If you do not mind being treated unfairly and like dirt go for it. You will eventually regret your decision.

Oh, poor RLee. You cannot get peace and rest, can you? - TRCR has a great MT only account!

[ In Reply To ..]
It pays really well and it is strictly transcription. Great dictators. I know, I work on it.

It just isn't as gloom-n-doom as all the Chicken Littles make it out to be.

To the OP who started this thread: If your company has been purchased, you will probably fare better than most.

oh and I'm sure that Transcend - will be glad to put all new employees

on the one and only gravy account

Transcend has learned from the best in the business on how to handle buyouts and their victims

This may sound dumb, but what is an MT only account? nm - ndmt

Transcription only. No VR. And it is NOT temporary. - The facility refuses VR!

TRCR new account - RLee

[ In Reply To ..]
Strictly transcripion probably is temporary until VR comes into play, which no doubt will happen because that is Trancend's goal on all accounts. Good pay will eventually change once VR comes into play as well. I have a feeling you no doubt at some point during your employment will sooner or later become one of those "chicken littles." As far as Poor RLee - she happens to be doing really great - no stress except with the recent death of my dad 2 weeks ago. I have a peace of mind and am enjoying life. I would not count my chickens before they hatch if I were you. But with that said - good luck to you - no doubt you will need it sooner or later.
you are right - Chester

Transcend strives to be an all-edit company. Every account they have will be transitioned to that platform. I remember when it was easy to make $30 an hour doing MT. Now, I make $15. I'm going back to school and I hope that be done with this in two years. Medical transcription use to be a good way to make a living. Not anymore. Its over.
Sorry to hear that RLee - LinK

Thanks - It has been a rough year personally. I lost my mom last September due to a terminal illness and 9 months later my dad to the same illness. So hopefully things will start looking up once again, as it cetainly cannot get any worse than losing your parents in a short period of time.
So sorry for your loss - ex-transcender
[ In Reply To ..]
I know you have had a very bad time, especially with the loss of 2 parents, and I am so very sorry that you have had to endure this, as well as what happened to you at Transcend. I was terminated on 06/02, and everything you say and have said about Transcend is so very, very true.

So far, so great for me. On my 1, catch that 1 account, I make my line count in 4 hours. I couldn't be happier, cant wait for my back up account!
How sad you can profess to be so happy and yet STILL choose to poke at RLee - Contradicatory
[ In Reply To ..]
Sorry, I find you creepy in the worst possible way. You words belie your actions. People who are truly happy do not go out of their way to insult others. I'm not buying it.

But that's just you - Chester

[ In Reply To ..]
I work on an all edit account and I make less money then I ever have. I've been in this business for 20 years. I hope Transcend is the last MT company I work for. I'm leaving the business entirely. Its over. I have to do 300 minutes of editing per day to make $100. That is appalling.

so did I - me

[ In Reply To ..]
I did my line count in 3 hours originally - but once they start chopping at your cpl, that won't be able to be done any more. Things will remain the same for awhile....but then slowly and surely new methods will be introduced - the lowering of cpl is just a part of the big picture. Been there, done that, left for less stressful pastures and am at peace.

R Lee, I feel badly about your situation, but IMHO you're - getting close to inviting legal action from Transc

[ In Reply To ..]
with some of the broad statements you're making about others' experiences, when you state opinions as facts. Please be cautious. I hope you have great luck in your job hunt and find a wonderful job.

My opinion - RLee

[ In Reply To ..]
The statements I make are from my personal experiences with Transcend and they are facts - the broad statements are made from reading others experiences on this board with Transcend. I am a small fish in an ocean so I am not worried about legal action - I do not feel it would be worth their time, as they did not even have the time to fight my unemployment benefits. But thanks for your concern and will take caution as I see fit. Sometimes one needs reminding.

I have been pretty nonvocal lately, but obviously you have not noticed. You are probably one of the observers on this board that will just bash any comment I make no matter what the topic at hand is, but you know what - I don't care. Obviously my posts bother you - so pass on by as has been suggested time after time. Have a good day!!!!!
I suspect MANY things bother this poster, RLee - Take the High Road
[ In Reply To ..]
I think this poster is just unhappy with life/career in general. Her posts tend to stand out and cover more than just taking pot-shots at you. I find her negativity draining, so I've been x'ing out of them as soon as I realize its more of her rhetoric.

Perhaps she'll find another way to vent soon and the boards will return to a bit more positive state.

My condolences about your dad, RLee. I hope you catch a break soon.
You are WAY off.sm - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
First off, I rarely post anything, good or bad or neutral. I am quite happy in my life thank you, not due to you or the company I work for, but through the Lord our Savior. If anyone is negative and draining, it would be the ones who don't give it a break EVER. You have a good day also.
Me thinks you have been dipping into the alter wine a wee bit too much. - Observer

Your thinking and memory are a little blurred, and if you are such a wonderful "Christian", why would you be so interested in abusing Rlee?
Condolences RLee .- You are correct! - Lucy
[ In Reply To ..]
I am so sorry for your loss, RLee.

I am glad that you still post even though the MTs with their heads buried in the sand .... or elsewhere . . . bash you repeatedly.

Transcend is more of a volunteer position - you show up for work, but if there is no work - you have just volunteered your time!!! Why not work for a not-for-profit charity - at least you'll feel good about it! LOL!

Please accept my condolences on the passing of your father. I am sorry for your loss.
so you consider "abuse" suggesting that someone continuously trashes over and over.sm - anon

the same company? I didn't say I was a wonderful Christian, you did, nor am I saying it now. She doesn't have a problem trashing not only a company but suggesting that anyone who works for them is an idiot. Whatever, it just gets old. Have a good day.
Sorry, I fail to see how the word "Christian" and transcription should even be put into - Observer
[ In Reply To ..]
the same topic. Obviously some of these company leaders do believe in a lord and savior, but some may not. However, most if not all are cut out of the same cookie cutter when it comes to greed. Isn't greed one of the things forbidden in the 10 Commandments? Nor does being a Christian make you a better transcriptionist than a Jew, an athiest or any other belief. More people have been tortured or killed in the name of religion, primarily Christianity, than any other reason. Does that make you better than anyone else? Get off your religious tones, whether you are a good Christian or a bad one makes no difference, and learn how to stay on the topic. I think if I had my ruthers, I would be Jewish since they seem to have a lot more money than most.
It doesn't have anything to do with transcription, and I never said it did.nm - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I have NEVER suggested or STATED anyone working at Transcend is an idiot, but maybe the shoe fits in your case. Have a nice day back at you!!!!

In reply to RLee - ex-transcender

[ In Reply To ..]
Your comment about inviting legal action to RLee sounds a bit threatening, and why should you make such a comment. She has said nothing that invites legal action. If that is the case, then all of us here that have negative comments about Transcend would be inviting legal action. Unless you know something we don't, then what you are telling us could also be misconstrued and also invites legal action against you!!
