I am a QC with Focus and I have to say, I am so sick of this company. I have tried and tried to love them. I have been with them for a long time and I stuck it out. I tried. No more. My team lead is rude, unprofessional, constantly contradicting herself and just outright mean. I am tired of editing India's work. I work my rear off to get my line count (what I need to make) but over the last couple of months, that has been cut in half due to no work. My team lead admitted to me that they overhired and promised a month ago that they were moving people off of this account that weren't performing to make work available and it has yet to happen. Compound that with the fact that the benefits are now absolutely terrible for MTs and QCs (someone told me management is actually getting better insurance now - how unfair is that?!?) and I've totally had it. Thanks for listening to my vent...anyone know of companies hiring editors that are actually decent and care about their employees?

I also work for Focus, and the last 2 months my account has gotten less and less work. I'm an MT. I figured overhiring was the problem. I can hardly get any hours. Twenty-five hours a week is about all I can get. I am constantly running out of work. I don't know what account your on but I work on an account starting with T. Also, the benefits now are just pathetic. I am not gonna take the ins now. It's just sad. I started in April with Focus. Now I am considering another job. I have a wonderful team lead. Other than that, can't brag. They said they moved full time up to 35 hours to get benefits. Well if the ins was affordable (which it isn't) we couldn't get enough hours to qualify for it anyway because there is no work. Also on my account we aren't allowed to work any past 9 pm to try to get our hours/lines we very much need. Even if there is work we cannot do it. I have another job I am gonna apply for and hopefully I get it.

MTSOs are starving US MTs out of the industry. - If only hospitals would starve-out the MTSOs!

I worked there for over a year, and left the company in May due to the company being completely inflexibile in regard to a health situation. Wondering if we were on the same team. TL didn't have the initials HS, did she?

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this experience. I worked there a year - great at first, but quickly got bad. My original TL was great, and had a few secondary TLs who were super, but my primary TLs - not so much. I tried to hang on while I found another job, but couldn't, as my TL made it difficult to work, it was more difficult to GET work, and it got to the point where I rarely had the hours or lines to make my quota & keep my benefits. I quit w/o another job (still do not have one) but have not regretted leaving. I have heard from several friends who stayed how much worse it is now. Good luck on your job search, and I'm sorry you had this experience with Focus

If you currently work FT with Focus could you share approximately or average of your gross montly income from Focus is. I am wondering if it is worthwhile to apply. I currently work as an IC and average $2000-2400 a month, which is fine but I have no benefits. I have been working at Focus now for 2 weeks. I think everyone is nice. All my QAs have seemed fair except today one QA (and only this one) counts off for blanks. Well the team lead said you are not penalized for blanks when I hired on. She said you won't be dinged for blanks. I want to apply because they said there are new accounts etc. Then, I checked the archives and as early as December, people were claiming to running out of work every day because a lot of the work goes to India. They also were told that there would be new accounts but somehow they vanished and they ended up with no work. Is there anyone here that currently works for Focus? I'm having a lot of trouble getting started. I'm being QA'd to death. I received an e-mail today from a recruiter at Focus Infomatics. I applied there last year and didn't meet their experience criteria but the e-mail asked me to send them an updated resume to see if I do now (and I do).
