MD-IT anyone? Info scarce in archives - Hiya

Posted: Dec 03, 2009

Any info would be most helpful - platform, QA, etc.  This position requires pay per dictation.  I've seen the archives about the average pay per minute but does anyone have any experience with this company being paid by the minute?  Do they give you all the crap or does it seem it's recorded double time?  LOL - okay, not funny.

Meant "pay per dictation minute." nm - Hiya

The odds of better outcome moneywise is on their side. As I have experienced, thedictators do not care how they dictate, they take a breath (you can hear it) and see if they can complete the report before taking another breath. They are not discouraged by the MTSO. They should dictator like they speak to their patients or fellow MDs. They don't. So you keep back space, back space trying to GET IT. NOPE

Disagree - per dictated minute can bring in $$ - not MD-IT here

It truly depends on your account. Last year I had a great account, and make a lot of money on it because the longer the report, the more you get. That account paid dictated minutes x 13 lines(due to extra template stuff), so if the report was 3 minutes you got credit for 39 lines. The long reports were very welcome, because we got paid for those long pauses and indecisive dictations.

Now I have a different account. It pays dictated minutes x 10 lines. I'm losing money on it because they do a ton of very short normals at approximately 0.06 minutes apiece, and there's still a lot of template stuff. I'm losing money on the short reports, getting credit for less than 1 line apiece while consuming my time filling in templates for every report.

Sometimes being paid by the dictated minute is a good thing, and sometimes not. Guess you won't know which until you're actually on the account.

to Disagree - MT way too long

I use to work at a hospital that paid by the dictated minute. The normal standard way of figure minutes versus lines is that each dictated minute averages 10 lines, so 3 minutes of dictation would equal 30 lines plus 13 for the template (I think that is what you mean) would mean 43 lines. Sounds like you are still being shorted lines. Only time the dictated minute thing works out is if the dictator is very slow. you get a 2 minute dictation by a motor mouth and you may have two pages of typing and get less than 20 lines. I agree with the other poster, no way would I work for dictated minutes ever again.

Thanks in advance. I am CMT with 16 years experience, currently working for a recently bought-out MTSO. I will probably test with Acusis this weekend. Is 9.25 cpl realistic for Acusis at all? What's the % cut for VR pay? I see they state a 12-hour window. Is 36 hours considered full-time? Are you paid for spaces? VBC? Is PTO decent? Again, thanks so much! ...
