Landmark MTs: Let's try to solve the puzzle (sm) - Angela

About two weeks ago I was told the decreased work on the rad/onc account I was on was decreased because they all went to VR. However, the work had not that decreased that much. Then I was told I would move to a new hem/onc account starting the end of March. I was then told that there was a delay in that account starting. I was then told I'd start an ER account and K would install an older version of ExText this week. So far no contact. I'm curious to know how others with LM are doing. Any work? How about the one(s) on the ER clients? Anyone see the hem/onc account start?

Very little work for me (I am not on hem/onc but acute care.) I have a mortgage and family expenses. (I am the breadwinner.) I really like LM and would like to stay, but need a steady income. How are you others coping? Thoughts?

I have had work pretty steady and now the last 2 days, I had had between 4 and 4-1/2 hours total for actual transcription. This is a first for me. On an acute care account. Who knows what is happening.

I was on the large acute care account that was lost when a hospital was sold. I don't think it was LM's fault it was lost. What I need to know is how soon will it be replaced? Does anyone have any info or ideas?

Has anybody had official contact with the powers that be as to when there will be more acute care hospitals? I have not.

won't come anytime soon-communication is NOT one of LM's strong points. There's no rhythm or reason, just because. My advice is move on as this story doesn't change, just different day/week.

No reason we can't hope for something better, although I don't think any of us are just waiting for that email to come.

I also really enjoy(ed?) working for Landmark and hope to continue, but I think we are all in the same boat with VR.

I am sorry that you guys lost your account but I have been asking for them not to put you on my account so that our work does not run out.

I knew this was going to happen and I already have a second job and have switched my LM account to part time. The work is going to start to dwindle eventually because of all this. All of you should not be sitting around and waiting for LM to put you on another account. Like other posters have noted previously they are not notoriously known for moving people to other accounts...EVER. Move on, I did.

This has been going on for YEARS. I don't know why. I have no idea why a company would constantly hire and leave their dedicated MTs without work, but they do. It seems that employment gets worse after about a year. You will see a group of people on here saying how they have no work with LM and then you will have a whole other group that are like "Rah, Rah, Rah, we love Landmark, we have plenty of work, we love K", then the cycle just continues when those cheerleaders are pushed to the side like the first group was.

I really wish people would stop applying to work with them. I know we all need a job and most people aren't able to stand up and make a stand, but any company that pushes their dedicated employees out the door basically, while hiring others and making it look glamorous for them, is just wrong and don't deserve to stay in business.

they would just go ahead and do an across-the-board lay off for their MTs and then allow them to be certified for Trade Assistance Retraining. If 3 or more employees are all laid off from the same company they qualify.

As it is, this hanging on and promises keep people from filing for unemployment and keep the company from having to pay increased unemployment taxes. Eventually people will get tired of waiting and quit.

What if someone was to quit and file for UE on the ground that they waited and waited and no work?

If you are an employee and not receiving work, you can file for unemployment and you will get it.

I'm an IC, so can't file for unemployment, but maybe employees can. - Angie

I am open to VR and have done it before at my previous job with the same software, dictatphone, and do not find dictaphone bad to do VR at all. The problem is, with this job that I have now, I have been killing myself, I cannot get over 500 lines per day doing VR, and all the accounts are VR.  The reason I cannot get above 500 lines is for every job that is a letter, consult, DS, PT, memo, or review, I have to create a new visit ID, look up the physicians ID and location, create that visit ...

I just saw an ad on the job seeker's board for Landmark stating they are hiring for VR because their account is switching to VR. Does anyone know if this is across the board for Landmark? This dragging along with no work is getting old FAST. Being told new accounts are going to start then week after week after week...NOTHING. They're not following fair labor laws AT ALL. I guess I'll lodge a formal complaint with the DOL and file for unemployment. I don't know what else to do at this point. ...

is pretty much a bitch-fest, at least it is some sort of contact with other MTs... oh excuse me... MLS.  I have never worked at a place where there was so little contact, no feedback, no sense of teamwork.  Yes, too much oversight with TLs hovering over you is oppressive and you may say... that's okay, I'd like that, just leave me alone to do my work... but really, it's tough to feel totally isolated, anyone agree?   ...
