Landmark MTs - MTmovingon

Posted: Jan 29, 2011

After the flurry of posts on this board this week regarding Landmark and then doing more research on my own in the archives on Landmark, I have decided to move on.  I am an employee of Landmark also.  I believe where there is smoke, there is fire to follow.  I have not seen what others are saying, but the lack of communication I have experienced and I am a person who do not only talk the talk, but walk the walk.  So,  I am finding another job and I suggest everyone on this board with complaints do the same. Why complain about it.  This board has taught me alot over the years, and that is when your income is at stake, you do not stay and wine, but try to move on as quickly as possible.  I am in the same boat as the rest, but I am not sitting here waiting for Landmark to grow or gain a heart, I will do my job and look for better pastures.  Please let's all move on when we can.  Bless you all and good luck.  I will post when I find a new home with Insurance for my 4 children---peace.

This company is going down! - nolongerhanging

I said that last April when they cut everyone's pay without notice or laid them off and lost accounts, most of which are overflow anyway. I have never been able to figure LM out in 2 years. They don't have enough work to keep me busy FT, yet they hire. In fact, last year one account was no work for 3 weeks (got called off it-overflow again)and DURING that time they had an ad up for the same account. This is one of the worst managed companies I have seen in my 30 years of MT. I also quit last Thursday after the big email about the insurance not going through and we would "hear from them" and never did, still haven't-nada. I can't get ahead with these people, because they keep taking it away, little by little. Good luck to all!

Could I ask you (and all other LMs) a favor? If any of us find jobs with good companies can we share that information with others so they may have information as well? If I find something good, I will post the name of my new company. If anyone else can do the same, it would be helpful. Let's all help each other out here. No one else is helping us, so let's help each other. Good luck to all.

Amen to that! - nolongerhanging

All we really do have is our other MT friends who are basically just trying to make a living like we are, and this board to vent on. I said this a few months ago and will re-state it now, the MTSOs (certain ones) can only do to us what we will allow them to do. We really do have power, if in nothing else numbers. Boycott a crappy service, quit, don't respond to ads, etc., they will be forced to straighten up or loss employees AND accounts. Remember, they don't make money unless they have accounts with worker bees on them. If the worker bees all fly the nest, they are screwed. I predict by Monday of next week, Landmark will have another ad up because some ARE quitting and taking a stand-go ahead and answer it, just remember what is on this board and don't whine about it then when it hits you in the face, maybe 6 months down the road, maybe not, but something will happen eventually, something big, something life-changing-AGAIN.

What bothers me most in all of this is the complete lack of communication. Don't they WANT to keep us? Do you think that maybe for some reason they WANT us to quit? This kind of behavior does not make sense to me.

I am flabergasted as to why they have not bothered to even send an email that we are on our own. Just imagine though, since they paid 50% of our premium how much they are saving by dropping insurance. Then, imagine how much they saved when they cut our pay last April. That little episode cost me about $500.00 a month. It seems like I am just peddling backwards with LM, not forward. They keep taking away.

I think this company is in trouble and doing whatever they can to stay afloat. I do know that most of their accounts are overflow and this is the "slow season", hence, lack of work across the board. I also know that they make decisions NOT for the future but respond to situations as they come up-obviously. Yes, I think they are weeding out to minimum staff based on the big pay cut and losing a lot of people and now this insurance issue. I predicted in April they are going down and I firmly believe that is the case. Look for another job people before it is too late. I absolutely DO NOT TRUST them. Nobody treats people like this if they are trying to prosper, but they do when hanging on by a sting, get rid of unnecessary expenses. I actually have been in this biz for 30 years and have NEVER had my pay CUT. I have some feelers out and will post here is I find anything good as suggested by previous poster. We have to help each other.

If you leave- you are likely eligible for COBRA - document carefully

I wish you all luck. I would refuse to type a single character until there was adequate company communication. They want to save? Well, if they have no MTs working, then they save lots, right?

Document carefully - xx

I had breakfast with a family friend this morning who is a hospital administrator. He tells me that we are not eligible for Cobra unless we have a "qualifying event," and he said that as of right now it sounds like we do not know where we stand. He says to document everything, down time, lack of responses to e-mails/calls, etc. He wonders if there is some reason this company actually WANTS people to leave. (He does not know the company personally; we are on the other coast.)

That was my impression with the company from the git-go. MTs are a dime a dozen.

Which Landmark? - curious

I have seen on here before that there are two Landmarks... Which state is THIS Landmark??

Im assuming (see message) - ExLMer

I'm assuming it's the primary one discussed on the boards; that is, the one in PA.

I worked very briefly for them and have recanted my experience on these boards before. The "primary" acute care account to which I was assigned was an overflow account. I was encouraged to join the LM team as an IC as their insurance would cost me more than to secure my own policy. I already had insurance so this wasn't an issue to me and I chose to opt out of the insurance they offered.

My secondary account was a hem/onc clinic that had horrific sound quality. I inquired as to if there was anything I could do on my end to try to increase the audio quality. It was beyond terrible - The dictators sounded like they were in another country dictating in a wind tunnel on a cell phone. I'd have my house silent as death and could still BARELY hear the dictators and very rarely could I get a clean report out; most had at least one blank that I could never hear. I received no response to my concerns. Not from the owner or her husband or from the QA person so many people rave about. NO ONE ACKNOWLEDGED IT.

Between the lack of work and lack of communication (and apparent refusal to even acknowledge my issues with the sound quality on my secondary account), I threw in the towel. I just didn't feel they took much of anything seriously, like the company was more of a hobby for them. I don't know why I felt that way, except during my "interview" (which was late on a weekend afternoon but they were behind the 8-ball on one of their accounts and had a rather large backlog due to MTs quitting), the woman owner spent more time talking about her kids and their activities than she actually talked about the position for which I was applying. It was friendly chatter, to be sure, but...I dunno, I kind of got the feeling she was more into being a "soccer mom" than running a business. Maybe I'm way off base. It just struck me as sort of odd, especially since I was a virtual stranger applying for a position.

In any event, I'm really sorry this happened to the Landmark MTs. Not having insurance is SCARY these days, when ERs and inpatient stays require such a huge "deposit" if one isn't insured. Having kids, it's darn scary to know they have no insurance if something were to happen.

Best of luck to all of you!

Dime A Dozen EVERYWHERE!!!! - NocturnalHooter

We lost something as a profession when we openly proclaimed that we wanted to "work from home" in order to take care of our kids.

Men in the workforce do NOT grapple with this issue. They go outside the home to work to provide for their families. They negotiate their pay rates with no shame.

We (as women and mothers) relegated ourselves to the status of moms 'taking in laundry' for 'pocket money' when we insisted that working from home was a "benefit.'

We are providing a real service. We need to demand payment that recognizes that.

Yes, this is a feminist issue.

Oh wait... We are 20 years ahead of the curve, and now there are women in India who will jump at the chance to work for rupees per line (taking in laundry).

Are we a profession or a pasttime?

Landmark Job Ad
Oct 09, 2011

Does anyone know if the job ad Landmark posted recently (oncology) is a new account for them? I have read on here so many posts about how the MTs there say they don't have enough work and was wondering if this account is a new one so there actually would be work to do? I would like to apply but don't want to waste my time if there isn't enough work in the first place.  Thanks for your help. ...

Landmark posting for radiology jobs?  I work for them and barely have any work.  Please look at the people you already have hired before you hire more.  That's why people don't stay.  I'd love to work there full time, but this has become my part time, back up account because I'm making so little money.  So frustrating.  Who else is working there currently for radiology?  I'd love to hear from you.  ...
