I am so over Landmark - even though this board

is pretty much a bitch-fest, at least it is some sort of contact with other MTs... oh excuse me... MLS.  I have never worked at a place where there was so little contact, no feedback, no sense of teamwork.  Yes, too much oversight with TLs hovering over you is oppressive and you may say... that's okay, I'd like that, just leave me alone to do my work... but really, it's tough to feel totally isolated, anyone agree?  

That's how I felt working at Acusis. - That place is a cyber b****fest.

I agree 110%. I worked at Landmark for nearly 3 years. I totally agree that it's never fun to be at a job where you are constantly micromanaged and have your work nitpicked to death, but Landmark has absolutely NO communication whatsoever. I very rarely ever got a response to a single email that I sent during my time there. At one point, I was beginning to think that I'd need to send smoke signals just to get in touch with anyone there. It was the most isolating place I ever worked. At previous MTSOs that I worked for prior to Landmark, at least I actually got to know some of my coworkers through company social media groups and from when I worked in supervisory positions, but Landmark had absolutely nothing like that. I always used to love my job, but after almost 3 years at Landmark, I literally had to force myself to work each day. It was pure torture working there. I felt so insignificant and unimportant, like I was nothing more than a number to them, which I'm positive was the case. I finally decided that I needed to get out, which I did as soon as I landed another job about 8 months ago.

Oh, and another thing I started to notice at Landmark during my last several months there was that my line counts were going down even though I was working just as hard as I always had. Something didn't seem right at all. I did email K and asked her about it, but of course she never responded. Something was definitely screwy there.

I know it's largely a matter of motivation, but my motivation done got up and went. I have to force myself to stay at the keyboard. I appreciate your validation, and believe it's time for a change.

same feeling here. My line count goes down too, no work. Only doing 1 account, straight transcription, but I would do no more of that ASR crap. Pay check goes down every 2 weeks. Can't live like this. working another job part time until I can get on there full time, not even related to MT work. These kind of posts are getting me closer and closer to just up and leaving. Used to like this company, but I am believing now that it will just go away suddenly.

Why do you need contact to get your job done?

Are you an employee or a contractor?

Do you contact K through the 5 ways she gives to contact her?

I've been there 5 years and K answers 98% of my emails within 24 hours.

If I have a really important question that is not being answered, I email A and get a response.

I get on and work. No real schedule just get the work done. No one IMing me to say it's 12:01 and you were supposed to be on at 12:00 where are you.

I've worked for a lot of companies and Landmark is in the top 3.

That being said, some human beings actually like human interaction. Crazy, I know.  It has something to do with customer service, which applies to not only facilities, but to vendors as well.  Even though I'm an IC, if someone actually acknowledges I exist once in a while, and thanks me for being a member of the team, I'll be much more inclined to help out in the crunch.  If I am completely ignored, chances are, I'll ignore right back.  Life is a two-way street.

Obviously being an MT and working from home can be an isolating career. We all know that. We knew that when we got into this profession. However, there are ways to help minimize that isolation. Even the tiniest bit of acknowledgement and appreciation once in a while from the company you work so hard for can make a big difference and go a long way. I once worked for a company where there was actually a private Facebook group for employees to chat and help each other out. We referred to it as kind of our "virtual break room." I ended up making several friends from that and they are still my friends to this day. There was also a monthly newsletter that all MTs contributed to. Those are the types of little things that can add up and make a world of difference. It makes you feel not so alone and can definitely help to drive your motivation. Just my two cents.

OK. Landmark is not that company. Not to offer a simple solution but quit. Go work for a company that gives you break rooms, pats your head, strokes your ego, or whatever it is that has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE JOB that you seem to need.

I've been at LM for a while now and I absolute love that I'm not inundated with nauseatingly cheery emails, contests, threats, etc. When I'm working, my goal is to make money. I don't get paid to deal with all that other crap. I don't need anyone else to tell me I'm doing a good job, I know I am. My paycheck is appreciation enough. If you aren't getting your emotional needs met at Landmark, leave - or get a puppy.

Then why are you there? I'm not trying to diminish your feelings about the company but I don't understand if you don't get enough work, don't get your emails answered, don̢۪t get the interaction you seemingly desire, and you pay is too low, what keeps you there? Life is way too short to keep yourself in a miserable situation. Take care of yourself by moving on. Be happy in what you do!!

This dragging along with no work is getting old FAST. Being told new accounts are going to start then week after week after week...NOTHING. They're not following fair labor laws AT ALL. I worked for Landmark a while ago.  Sorry for all the problems the current MTs are having.  Have the owners come up with a solution about the insurance issue?  Just a thought, but you might try calling your local state representative's office and asking about COBRA and/or an insurance plan run by your state that covers children.  You may also have a county agency that can give you information about insurance coverage.  Of note, the COBRA payment is usually the ent ...
