I have heard not one word. No calls, no e-mails, nothing. I am a CMT with over 25 years of experience, experience in every specialty, huge hospitals, etc. Am I too experienced and do they think I would want too much money? Why wouldn't they at least ask? I used to get a phone call immediately upon sending a resume. Nowadays, nothing. I'm amazed that these companies are not looking for good help.

I sent out I believe six in the past week or two, got two job offers, and notes thanking me for my interest from the rest. Did you put down what you wanted for pay? One of them told me starting pay was 7.5c until off QA and 8c after. Told them thanks, but no thanks. Another went out of their way to accommodate my part-time hours I wanted. For the heck of it, I took the MQ test on line and FAILED:) That was really funny, as I have worked for them in the past. Must have done some things that are not the new BOS rules. But even they contacted me within a week. Best of luck and keep trying. You just haven't found the right ones yet.

I, too, have sent out several in the last month and I've had some sort of feedback from every single one of them. I, too, have longevity and extensive experience so I'm thinking fear you might "cost" too much isn't likely the issue.

I refused to take the MQ test. I, too, had worked for them before so I was not taking a test. If I was good enough before, take me again. Plus I refuse to take those mttest things.

Other than that, weird I have heard nothing. The first couple I realized my e-mail address had changed since I had done my resume but the past 5 or so were correct (and my phone number was always there and correct) so I just can't figure it out. Like I said, I always had responses within hours of sending a resume so I just figured the economy was slow or something and they didn't want to pay me. Don't get it but glad to know someone is getting jobs!

Susan, sometimes it takes longer than 2 weeks, sometimes they call you right away. If you are really wondering about a certain employer, you can take the initiative and follow up with them via e-mail or a phone call. I've tested at places assuming they had openings when they did not, sometimes you don't know when you apply, there's no way to be certain from some of the web sites. One suggestion I would make is to take the tests. I have passed tests through mttest so I don't understand why people are saying that it's rigged by Career Step. The tests are a pain but that's the only way to ever be considered, regardless of experience. With 25 years of experience you can probably ace most of them.

I don't think mttest is rigged; I just wish everyone could take it once and all employers seen that one test, instead of us taking a different test (basically the same thing) by all these companies that use it.

One of the companies I applied to recently did have an ad but I just re-sent another resume and I will cold call them if need be, just to get some insight. I know sometimes people fall through the cracks and it would be nice to know why they haven't called, if they can help me out with that info.

I am sure this has been brought up before but I found nothing recently in archives. If you are considered an IC (a true IC) and you are asked to submit a resume when trying to get a position - do you list the companies you transcribed for on your resume or do you set it up as if you were self employed? I guess what I am asking is since being an IC means you technically did not work for that company (you worked for yourself) do you still list the companies you were transcribing for? ...

Just curious. With over 9000 resumes posted, has anyone gotten a response because their resume is in the bank? It seems unlikely that once you're name is off the main page, someone looking to fill a position will not look much further than that. ...

I heartily disagree with what you wrote. I used to receive responses to my resume immediately if not sooner upon applying. No more. I often applied, like you, just to see what responses I'd get. Never, before or now, would anyone negotiate. It was what it was and if you dared to ask if they had a higher rate, they acted offended. Yeah for sure. what goes does it do to send resumes to these jobs posted here, when you get NO response... I realize they have more resumes than they can probably go through, but when they look at the top of your resume (where it should be) and see you have had over 25 years experience - you think they'd contact you first, yeah whatever. I have sent out 9 resumes this week and have not heard back from one of them yet. I sent 5 last week and have not heard from them either. I need to be working. I cannot sit in front of my email waiting day in and day out for someone to send me a test, tell me they filled the position, or that they want to hire me. I have been doing MT for almost 15 years, and the one company I have been with for the past 9 years is suddenly getting less and less work. What if I don't give a 2 week notice? Is it really gonna hurt me? I doubt they give detailed information about what kind of employee you were. Maybe just dates.
