Does Oracle (OTI) have a 24 hr minimum for part time? - Most places want at least 24 hrs for PT

Posted: Nov 08, 2012

Do they? Also what is the required line count for part time be it daily or per pay period? Thanks in advance.

It's on their website (link enclosed) - MT

Full-Time and Part-Time Options

Full-time is a minimum of 5,000 lines transcribed per week.
Part-time is a minimum of 3,500 lines transcribed per week.

Thank You!! I have one other question - see msg

[ In Reply To ..]
I dont know if you work for them or not, but assuming your do or anyone else who comes along - How easy is it to get your lines out?

The reason I asked is because I once worked as an IC for a company with a horrible, horrible platform and I dont think they paid for spaces and platform was very laborious; so long story short it could sometimes take 6 to 8 hours to get in 4 hours worth of work.

So my question is if the platform fairly reasonable to work on be it Bayscribe or any others they may use? And do they pay for spaces or can you get your lines done in a reasonable time frame?

Thanks.

I'm not the OP, but to my knowledge they only use Bayscribe, sm - Colorado MT

and it is super easy to use, and yes, they pay for spaces. The multispecialty clinic they are hiring for is not the greatest, but you should be able to get your lines in for the week with no problem. I think part time minimum is 3500 lines a week. Good luck.
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback. - Hoping to get a PT gig thats IC.

You two have been a lot of help.

but I hope to! My company was just acquired by M*Modal so I also applied (FT). Good luck to both of us :)

Easy to get on Bayscribe - I averaged 350-400 lines per hour. Very easy platform plus you build your own glossary. Also they pay all lines for normals, or they did when I was there. Super place to work.

Can you tell me why you left?

I'm considering applying with them and want to know the good and the bad.

Thank you!

I got a job that paid more money and couldn't pass this up, same kind of situation as Oracle with no schedule, etc..... But if I hadn't, I'd still be at Oracle.
dmz- Would you share - name of company where you work now?
[ In Reply To ..]
Would love to know the name(s) of places that offer true IC work. Thanks you!
I wanted to ask that too, but I assumed it was probably one of those things nm - pepple usually do not share :(

I almost went to work for them.... One of the most unprofessional companies I've encountered. And unless they've changed it recently, be careful of their contract.

Can you elaborate a bit more regarding - thanks

[ In Reply To ..]
the contract please, what do we need to be careful of?

I can elaborate - best company ever! - Nothing hidden - sm

Please note that person "almost" went to work for OTI - one of the GREATEST companies I have worked for in years!

I found not a thing hidden in the contract at all. Easiest contract/paperwork ever to sign and send, all done online and no printing and faxing/mailing. As far as lines, you simply put in your schedule what you expect to type on any give day 0 or 2000 (if you are that fast LOL).

Bayscribe is very similar to DQS. Tech support can and will help you set it up and also import your word AC short cuts into the platform for you. Bayscribe is also very compatible with Instant Text shortcut platform if you have one.

My brief history: I'm an MT of 15+ years. I worked for my mentor for 15 years, had my own accounts as well as other pickup accounts during that time. In May 2011 my mentor lost our account and I had to move on. I tried one company at 7.5 straight type, allowed cherry picking, QA was nasty and not helpful and stayed there for 5 months, quit as my family was going without. Got a job with ESI who sold to M*Modal within a month. Tried really hard to stay with M*Modal, but it is as horrible as the posts you read. I finally found OTI in April 2012 and I can't imagine working anywhere else.

Unprofessional? I think not! The sisters who run OTI, Iz and Lynn are great! Very understanding and helpful. QA is the same and I have not gotten a single "nasty gram".

I did a few reports on the new account they are hiring for and had no problems, but was asked to stay on my main account as they needed/wanted me more there.

I hope this helped answer some questions you may have had.
Really? - anon

This new clinic account has terrible sound quality. If the sound was better, then the mumblers would be more tolerable. Not surprised that the company has posted a job ad for this account and that enough current ICs don't want to work on this account at this crappy pay rate. If this was a breezy account, then 7-1/2 cents could be tolerable, but it's not. You would have to consistently transcribe over 260 lines per hour to make $20 an hour. And remember, this is for IC status, with no benefits, no paid time off, no taxes paid.

This company keeps dropping it's price per line and I'm betting they are not bidding these jobs at that low of a price. It's just that they are able to get away with this.

Trying To Find Part-time Or Full-time Employee Position (hospital/clinic)

If anyone knows of a hospital, clinic, or large practice offering remote full-time or part-time employee positions, I would really appreciate an email.  I have the sudden need to help support a family member long term (in addition to myself) and really need to find a long-term remote employee position for the stability.  Yes, I watch all the various employment sites and even individual hospital sites, but I was hoping that maybe, just maybe someone who works for a hospital that does th ...

MQ Rehire Policy For Part Time To Full Time
Apr 09, 2011

I worked for MQ full time and then went to part time last year, before finally quitting altogether because of health problems. I seem to remember an obscure policy that if you were full time and then went to part time, you could not go back to full time for a period of at least 1 year.  Can anyone verify that for me? IF, and this is a big IF, I were to go back to work for MQ, I would need to be full time. ...

Optiscript Part Time To Full Time

Does anyone care to share that if you are hired at optiscript part time will they let you change to full time easily?
