a living wage. Those things have gradually been taken away. Try to think of another job where the following happens: You have unique specialized skills. You are constantly learning and expanding your knowledge. Over the years you have had to learn new platforms, further expanding your skill set. You may frequently be learning new accounts and new dictators; yet with each of these accomplishments your pay goes down. It goes down because you are editing instead of straight typing even though the same skills are required. It goes down because every new account you learn requires you to have to constantly check account specifics. It goes down because instead of having 1 primary account you have many that require time-consuming research to find doctor names, city names, etc. It goes down because you are interrupted with IMs and emails that require time you are not paid for. Platform training is insufficient so you are basically told to sink or swim and if you make errors, more pay deductions. There are no rewards, only punishment. This is what is sad. Many of us have stayed because we still love the work of transcription, the challenge; but these companies have destroyed our morale and our pride in doing a good job.
