I think maybe the original poster hit a little too close to home. If you see yourself in those remarks, think it over and own it, then do something about it.
That being said, of course, there are some people who are doing well enough and quite satisfied. But if you are not among those few, and you are watching your financial stability and sense of self worth slip away, stop being defensive and give some serious thought to the points that she (he?) is making.
