It makes it look like they are some authority on MT matters like that and are invested in our well-being. They are NOT. They are IMO a big reason US MTs are being screwed. They keep pretending it isn't happening and just keep raking in the money from offshore training supplies etc.
The petition is way to long-winded for the media-altered short attention spans of most internet readers. It could be a lot more concise.
All that said, I signed because it is the best we have at this point. At least somebody cared enough to draft it. If it at least puts a spotlight on these issues enough for somebody in a position of help to see it, then it will have served a purpose.
Others are certainly encouraged to draft their own petitions too. The more the better!
