Company Board

Here's an idea - BeenThereMT

Just don't work the extra if you don't want to. Ignore the e-mails, don't answer your phone, etc., if you are contacted outside of your usual contracted working schedule. If questioned, you were not in your office to receive those messages.

The company is abusing the situation, but you can control it. If they threaten you that they will need to hire more people, so be it.

If you had wanted to work 40+ hours a week, that's what you would have signed up for. Because we are off-site, the companies have a mentality that it's easier to take advantage of us as ICs which would never happen if we were on-site. Oh, of course, in that case, we would be employees and would at least get minimum benefits.
