I am an IC and am always being pressured to work more - ICQuestion Posted: Apr 26th, 2016 - 5:34 pm
I have been an IC for a company for about a year now. Before I was at MModal. I signed up to be an IC, part time, 20 hours a week. However, multiple times a day, I get emails that I have to work. Evenings, weekends, early morning, it doesn't matter. Today, I worked 8 hours and 5 minutes after I logged off, they tell me to sign back on because they are nearing TAT.
How is this OK? I was under the impression being an IC means I set my schedule and as long as I produce work under the terms (4 hours a day 5 days a week) they pay me and we are good.
Every day, there is more and more late work and I think people are jumping ship. I like the pay and company, but I don't like feeling pressured and pushed to work every day, every night, and then on weekends.
