"echotexture" vs "echo texture" - sm - je suis MT

This is mostly asked out of curiosity, as I've been doing Cardiology & Radiology for 20+ years and this is new to me.

Have always written this as two words but have found it in Stedman's Rad book as one. Also, apparently other reputable sites (NIH) have published articles with it as one word. However, OneLookdictionaries don't show it as such.

Anyone have insight into "texture" used as a combining form here?

I hate when I find conflicting spellings in differing, dependable sources! Sometimes, I'm not sure any of them know for sure....or else either way is actually O.K.

I assume you have an updated medical spellchecker loaded into your system....does that spellcheck "like" it as a single word--echotexture? See, for instance, when I type that here on this board, spellcheck is marking it as a misspelling; but then, I doubt if there's an updated Dorlands on here--LOL. I think I'd make it one word if your spellcheck allows it, especially since it's in the Stedman's Rad book that way.

Then again, of course, if your QA person happens to NOT like it, none of this will matter anyway! :-( Another thought is that if ASR makes it two words, I'd probably just leave it that way because I've become very jaded about wasting time making reports "perfect" any more. :-D

Thank you so much for the thoughtful, "you're feeling me" response! I try not to get hung up on "perfect" but then that's so much a part of what we're expected to do, right?

Unfortunately, we don't have medical terminology software/spellchecker (just plain Word, and anyone can and does add incorrect info to it...) nor do we have a QA person, supervisor or lead transcriptionist (I know - unbelievable). I have a few experienced co-workers, and we engage each other (and our anonymous friends on MT Stars:)for things like this.

For those who work with echo dictation - from what I understand, it's useful for straight transcribing, but does it work in VR? I'm thinking of investing in it, but can't understand how it would be useful in a VR program, which is where everything will be in just a few years. I would think it wouldn't work in a non-Word program since you can't cut and paste, and even if it did, you'd be editing twice. Thanks for any info! ...

that we have to key in all this information from the work sheet into the report? I hate these things. It takes forever to get through them, and please don't let me make a mistake because then I'm having to scrutinize the thing to make sure I'm back on target with the right number. Ok, moving ahead with my plan to up my productivity by doing echo dictation,redictate the reports and up my straight typing speed using voice recognition software. Looking at the new Dragon 11.5 for 145.99 on Amazon. Want to know if this will do the trick or if must I bite the bullet and get the Dragon Medical (with the 30,000 word medical dictionary) which I am sure is MUCH pricier.
