Anyone working at Keystrokes doing these echo reports - Not a data entry girl

Posted: Mar 03, 2015

that we have to key in all this information from the work sheet into the report?  I hate these things.  It takes forever to get through them, and please don't let me make a mistake because then I'm having to scrutinize the thing to make sure I'm back on target with the right number.  A lot of time being spent on a job that took only minutes to type.  I had to vent about it to somebody and wondering if anybody else feels the same way about them.  I think they need to up my pay on these things as the data entry should be paid separately.

Right with you on echo reports - absolutely loathe them ...

How did that happen, hire your transcriptionist to do - that kind of work, sm

I mean it would be different if the numbers were being dictated to you and you were transcribing them, but to have to take each patient, pull up their echo report, input all the data on the echo report and then type what the physician read on the echo, it's just crazy if you ask me. That is a lot of data entry for 7 cents a line. Its taking money out of the transcriptionist pocket to ask them to do this task. Seems funny that the people in charge of that had no qualms about it. But as many on this board have said, what do they care, right.

I print out the worksheet, makes it easier for me. On average, these echoes equal 40 to 50 lines, which is on average about $2.80 per report. Pathetic for the amount of work involved, worse than slave labor.....I wonder how much KS gets for them?

Are they paying for your ink and paper? - see msg

It should not be at your expense - they should reimburse you.

In a fair and just world.... - suzieQ559

I would be either reimbursed or have plenty of work to cover the expense, but since when are MTSOs fair or just. Luckily for me I only have to tough it out another 3 weeks and I am done. Just needed to make a few bucks before returning to seasonal job...I feel for you guys trying to make a living, I don't know how you do it.

I look at it like this.... - suzieQ559

We are not provided a computer, internet, foot pedal, headset, etc. by the MTSO (for the most part), that is our cost to do this work at home. So, I figure the cost of paper and ink to print the echo worksheet is worth it to me to keep my sanity.

I find the whole business or having to do this data entry - ridiculous, seems we are sm

tasked to do more jobs that have nothing to do with transcription and getting nothing in return for doing them.

That is true, but at this point.... - suzieQ559

I am just glad to have any work as I sit here another Sunday with no jobs.

Jan 21, 2013

Would you please share your experience working at Keystrokes.  Is it as bad as posted on here, or are there any "happy" MTs there?  Are you able to work your full shift and get your line counts?  If not, how many different accounts do you have to work on to make enough money to live on?  Are their platforms hard to learn and do you have to switch back and forth on those too?  Do you get raised to 8 cpl as promised?  Thanks for any info you would care to share...appreciate your time. ...

Echo Dictation
Jul 23, 2011

For those who work with echo dictation -  from what I understand, it's useful for straight transcribing, but does it work in VR? I'm thinking of investing in it, but can't understand how it would be useful in a VR program, which is where everything will be in just a few years.  I would think it wouldn't work in a non-Word program since you can't cut and paste, and even if it did, you'd be editing twice.  Thanks for any info! ...

Does Anybody Use Dragon Naturally Speaking To Echo Dictate (redictate)?
Nov 08, 2010

I've tried to use the search function, but either it's not working properly or I'm not doing something right (I suspect it's not working right now).  I work for a company with a Web-based transcription platform (straight typing).  What I want to try to do to improve my productivity is to buy Dragon Naturally Speaking, load it onto my computer, echo dictate (redictate) what my docs are saying, and then cut and paste the software's output into the platform windo ...

How Many Lph Could One Achieve Performing "echo Transcription"?
Nov 22, 2011

hello, i am grateful to have obtained an IC position with a reputable MTSO which wants me to do "echo transcription" for them (part or all of the time).  i would be using Dragon most likely.  a long time ago on mtdaily.com i read about an MT achieving 250 lph doing echo transcription, but i thought i read here on mtstars.com (or elsewhere) that it's possible to achieve 400 lph--or more--once you "get in the groove"? could we start a conversation about this?  any and all i ...
